Official: 1 killed, 9 hurt in series of blasts in Iraq

A nine-year-old girl was killed and nine other people wounded in a series of explosions Wednesday morning in the Iraqi city of Baquba, an official said.

The bombs were left outside the homes of security force members and local government officials in different parts of Baquba, said Muthanna al-Timimi, member of the Diyala provincial council's security committee.

Five bombs detonated in quick succession, he said.

Baquba, northeast of the capital Baghdad, is the capital of Diyala.

While violence has drastically dropped in Iraq in recent years, attacks against security forces remain a common occurrence

    To the people of Iraq :

    I would personally like to say I'm happy that you are enjoying your new found freedom. Not a day goes by that I don't bask in the glow of accomplishment. After all, if I hadn't decide to invade your country for no reason, you would still have been living in relative peace. Now, we couldn't have that , now could we ?
    Now that you are free to choose your own type of government, good luck with your future endeavors.

    Thank you. I am so happy that our warriors are out of that mess. Now if we would just step up and end this Afghanistan fiasco, things will be back to PBE. (pre bush era) We did what we went to Afghanistan for. Time to come home.

    Why is there news on iraq? Is it that we are still operating there under the cover?and if there is no news on iraq than people would question whats going on over there and find out the trurth? Its out of our hands now. Did the iraqies hear about the fire bug in so cal recently? We better tell them before they get paranoide
