Believe it: Tebow works another miracle in Denver

The astounding story of Tim Tebow added another chapter Sunday as the controversial quarterback led his Denver Broncos to a stunning 29-23 overtime victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in an NFL wildcard playoff game.

On the first play from scrimmage in overtime, Tebow heaved a pass 18 yards to receiver Demaryius Thomas, who stiff-armed Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor and sprinted down the right sideline for an 80-yard touchdown.

The Broncos led 20-6 at halftime, but the Steelers - led by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's 289 yards passing - clawed their way back to tie the game at 23 with time running down in regulation. Neither team could get close enough for a winning field goal, and the contest moved into overtime.

The league instituted complicated new overtime rules for the playoffs, but the rule differences never came into play as Tebow and Thomas wrapped it up in 11 seconds - the shortest overtime in NFL history. The referee's explanation of the rules before the coin toss actually took up more time than the extra period.

Tebow has been criticized since his college days at the University of Florida for his awkward throwing motion and his overt Christian faith - including his practice of bowing in prayer after touchdowns. But Denver fans, and eventually the Broncos front office, embraced him this season as he led a series of late-game comebacks.

On Sunday he threw for 316 yards (which some people noted might be punctuated 3:16, for the cornerstone verse from the Gospel of John); 204 of those yards were throws to Thomas.

At the postgame news conference, Tebow acknowledged that football success is great but tried to put it in perspective.

"Football is amazing. We love it. We're so passionate about it as you could see right there (on the final play)," he said, according to video on NFL.com. "But the real win, at least I would say today, is being able to comfort a girl who's been through 73 surgeries before the game, and get a chance to go hang out with her now. That's the biggest win of the day. So they're both exciting, but that's what I'm even more proud of."

Tebow Time now moves on to New England, where the Broncos will face Tom Brady and the top-seeded Patriots on Saturday.

If assisting the girl was so much more meaningful, why doesn't Timmie do that full-time? Because he is yet another of a long line of Christian hypocrites.

I would like to just say whether youre a fan of Tebow or not (which I am) I have not been entertained watching football like this in a long time, if not ever. Tebow what you do on the football field is nothing compared to what you do for those unfortunate outside the field. May this fame and publicity help you achive most important goal. I hope someday to have a heart like yours.

I love the dynamic between atheists and christians on this message board.

You have the pompous atheist who finds any chance who bash Christianity and religion just to build confidence in their own belief (mind you that atheism is simply a BELIEF/fath in the absence of God) and then the overly self-righteous Christian evangelical seeking messages in the most trivial of things.

I love the irony in that atheists tend to be the more intellectual liberal part of society..the same part of society that calls for freedom of speech, freedom of religion on foreign soil, welfare for the poor etc, etc. Christians are told the same thing...respect others. However, more than ever, atheists have continued to prove in vain with intellectual wit that God does not exist. Again, Science is not evidence that God does not exist – there are Christian groups that view science as the discovery of God's creation. A Christian can name 1000 reasons why God does exist. Neither is right nor wrong. It's the greatest mystery on Earth. So please stop arguing with each other. NO ONE KNOWS IF GOD EXISTS UNTIL HE/SHE PERISHES.

NO ONE KNOWS IF GOD EXISTS UNTIL HE/SHE PERISHES.-that includes you! Lets see now your sky people help this guy play football but they refused to save the Jews from Nazi death camps. Sound logical? Do you wonder why some don't believe in your fantasy. No one is stopping you from practicing your beliefs and never will but don't expect others to share in your delusion.

you know xetor, its funny but atheists are a dime a dozen, literally a dime a dozen. its easy to blame god for your troubles and what you dont understand, so you deny him. no big deal, your denial doesnt banish him. so keep up your hate, the imaginery god still loves you. and you will be okay

Some atheists believe there is no god. Many of us, on the other hand, do not believe there is a god which is vastly different. You are aware of this yet you persist in characterizing all atheists as people of faith because it suits your argument. Highly dishonest -but you rationalize it's all for a good cause – your god.

god's existence isnt predicated on faith. he would exist whether we all didnt believe. so my opinion is irrelevant. i was only saying he loves you either way. athiests are likely a test for believers, you all play a part in his plan.

It is stupid and ignorant to think that a god would shine some light on this showboater. All of you who believe in nonsense, open your minds; read about particle physics, astronomy, black holes, the wonder of the cosmos.

Oh I forgot, you'd rather duhhhhhhh, watch fooooooooooootball!

how does anything you mentioned prove the nonexistence of God? Again, how does Tim Tebow prove the existence of God or anything for that matter? Perhaps science is simply the discovery of God's creation. Perhaps, science is the undoing of religion.

      Get over your intellectual arrogance.

Ok... first, it was a fantastic game. It was tense, it was exciting and above all, it was a fun game. But, seriously, for the love of god... Can you please stop trying to find correlations with the frigging game and the effin Bible?!!!!! It was a football game! It has nothing to do with the effin Bible!!! If you want, give me any friggin text and I can find some wrinkle of similarity and pigeonhole it to fit my narrative... Leave it be peeps, it was just a football game!!!!!

Some of the saddest garbage in the world if you have to make things up to justify faith. Poor steelers had 70% of the team injured or playing injured.

We should set aside a moment every sunday to kneel down and do the Tebow. kinda like the moslems do facing mecca. I am serious, perhaps everyday at noon. even better. can have a siren or something go off, and no matter where you are you perform the Tebow.

I am not a christian, but I would think that the fans and front office would appreciate Twbow's conduct over that of the gangster and punk gang element in the NFL.
