Activists: Clashes between Syrian forces, defectors leave 4 dead

Four people were killed - including a defected first lieutenant - during clashes Wednesday between Syrian government forces and defectors, an opposition activist group said.

The clashes took place when government forces stormed a village in Hama, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The latest violence followed a particularly bloody day on Tuesday, when 38 people - including three children - were killed, according to the Local Coordination Committees of Syria, which organizes and documents anti-government protests.

Reports of carnage mount every day despite the presence of observers from the Arab League in the country and international pressure for the Syrian regime to stop a 10-month crackdown on protesters. Opposition activists groups have said the number of deaths has topped 6,000.

    Yep. It's just a matter of time before the world is free of these big fat religious leaders fomenting war for centuries. Look at what these false religions have been doing to the worlds peoples. Members of one religion fighting others based on religion. Religious wars will end. Hapy Days will be here again. I get to be Mr. Cunningham.

    Even you yourself say that what goes on inside of a persons bedroom is nobodys business but yours. How else are we going to end religious influences that try to tell US what to do if not governments turning on these religious zealots. The same religious leaders that connned the worlds peoples into going to war over religion for centuries are the ones telling us what we can and can't do. Not to mention they ratpe our boys and then tell them to go die for God&Country when they grow up.

      Lol your challenge is a riot, Vertigo. I don't even make $500 a week take home right now uelsns I put in overtime or get a nice commission. Unemployment insurance is not anywhere on my paycheck stub, and my stub is itemized quite diligently. There is a witholding for Federal income tax, state income tax, Social Security tax, Medicare tax, my 401k, health insurance, and dental insurance. Unemployment insurance is nowhere to be found, and you want to know why? Because I don't pay it. My employer does.It's clear you have no clue what you are talking about here, Vertigo especially if you are calling me a neo-con. My argument is that, just like social security tax, unemployment insurance is simply another regressive tax that puts the burden of taxation on those who can ill afford to pay it. It's another way our government subsidizes the rich while screwing the poor. I have no idea how you get your argument out of what I have stated here.

    My mom lives there and when I called her in a panic she was urierntng from a golf game and getting ready for a dinner party later that evening. Her biggest worry, They sounded the tsunami warning at 6:00 am and woke us up. I guess it's good to be prepared, but ya, as usual the media makes a mountain out of mole hill.
