Steve Jobs action figure shelved

An action figure in the eerily accurate likeness of late Apple Inc. founder Steve Jobs will not happen, its would-be maker announced Sunday.

"The original intention for creating the figurine was driven by a fan’s admiration of Steve," the pop-up announcement at InIcons.com reads. The announcement goes on to say the company has been subjected to "immense pressure" from Apple and Jobs' family to cancel the project.

Apple did not respond to a request for comment.

"Regardless of the pressure, I am still Steve’s fan, I fully respect Steve, and his family, and it is definitely not my wish or intention that they be upset," the unsigned statement says. "Though we still believe that we have not overstepped any legal boundaries, we have decided to completely stop the offer, production and sale of the Steve Jobs figurine out of our heartfelt sensitivity to the feelings of the Jobs family."

Jobs died October 5 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

The 12-inch doll was to feature Jobs' iconic black turtleneck, rimless glasses, blue jeans and New Balance sneakers. It was to have retailed for $99.

Shipments were to have begun in February, the San Jose Mercury News reported. Pre-order payments would be refunded, the InIcons statement said.

@kandi and banasy i was just poking fun.steve jobs isnt the buttkickin type of person but thats what action figures are supposed to be.actually being a partial musician im very grateful for some of his ideas.not sure if all this is thanks to steve jobs but is definitely apple.midi(musical instrument data interface)merged computers with various instruments and allowed them to communicate with each other.(keyboards could borrow beats and sounds from drumpads and control the drumpad or visa versa with a computer linked in between greatly expanding options)also the mp3 allows music to be more portable and workable.needless to say apple has made major contributions to the music industry allowing musicians to skip the record labels.i really do have to say though that i miss the old boom boxes and big speakers before everything went miniature.these cranes i work in are so loud an ipod docking station wouldnt be heard if i had it right next to me but the entire dock can hear my old school ghetto blaster.

Its ok hamsta, just wanted to point out that if it werent for Steve Jobs along with his co-founder, Steve Wozniak, WE would not be blogging! They were the inventors of the first PC so he deserves respect.

There's a market for nerdy action figures, Kurt Cobain, Einstein, etc. It would have sold well, but I guess Apple isn't as cool as it thinks it is.

Actually there is a market for nerdy action figures, Kurt Cobain, Einstein, etc. It would have sold well, but I guess Apple isn't as cool as it thinks it is. There's a whole line of famous artist action figures (Van Gogh with removable ear!). Pretty cool actually.

That is a TOTAL DRAG. Steve would not have minded in the least - he probably would have been honored. As long as he got his 33% cut from each figure. But cancelling it altogether? Do people not know that I can take two photos of Steve, one from the front and one from the side, send them to a company, and they will make me my own Steve action figure (for a hefty price, but still)?
