French Senate to vote on bill claiming Armenian genocide

The French Senate is expected to vote Monday on controversial legislation that would criminalize any public denial of what the bill calls the Armenian genocide in Ottoman Turkey last century.

Turkey has expressed anger over the bill - passed last month by the French National Assembly, the lower house of parliament - and relations between the two governments have deteriorated over the matter.

If the Senate, the upper house of parliament, ratifies the bill, ties between the two countries could unravel further.

The day after the National Assembly approved the bill, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey ratcheted up the rhetoric, accusing France of "genocide" during the war in Algeria in the 1950s and 1960s.

I always like being in France, and I enjoyed my one brief visit to Turkey.
Would this French bill mean that I could not, in public, in France, deny Armenian genocide if I chose to do that?
    "Genocide" is a tricky term.

not surprising jif you would say that. genocide should never be an option. It would be more productive for both parliaments to outlaw the act then to reconize it as sort of an accomplishment

France and genocide. Google 'bayer ag knowingly HIV france' and read the news. Bayer Aspirin Group/Pharmaceuticals Distributor was busted distributing drugs laced with HIV in the US, and later in France and other countries. Bayer's world headquarters are built on top of the ruins of their corporate concentration camp where they experimented on jewish women and children. Their mass grave remains undisturbed to this very day. Every single other gravesight that has been found has had the bodies exhumed and given a proper burial EXCEPT the ones butchered by Bayer AG. And as if anyone really gives a ratz ass.

VIVE LA FRANCE! Good for you France....You are one country that is truly stand for humanity. Don't let those Muslims intimidate you. Hey Turkey!.......I heard there are more Uighurs in Cambodia.....Hurry! go and rescue them.....OOOP sorry Cambodia just sent them back to China. I also heard Greece wants their land back, it is time for you to move back to Xinjian (Western China). To the Kurdish people in Turkey, you now can go to the UN and claim Genocide that committed by Turkish too. And you can claim Independence.

Uneducated people tend to not capitalize on the computer. Laziness abounds. Going out on a limb here, but that's probably why Mmmm takes such exception to you, Joey: you write well.
