Megaupload founder appears in New Zealand court seeking bail

The founder of the shuttered file-sharing site Megaupload appeared in a New Zealand court Monday as the U.S. Department of Justice seeks to extradite him and other company officials on criminal charges. But his lawyer insisted his client is innocent.

The U.S. authorities shut down Megaupload last week and announced indictments against seven people connected to the site, accusing them of operating an "international organized criminal enterprise responsible for massive worldwide online piracy of copyrighted works."

Four of those charged were arrested in New Zealand at the request of the U.S. government. They included Kim Dotcom, the site's founder, who is also known as Kim Schmitz. The New Zealand police detained Dotcom, a German citizen, on Friday after a dramatic raid on his luxury mansion in the affluent North Shore area of Auckland, the country's largest city.

The studios own greed did that to themselves not filesharing.metallica would be a bunch of nobodies if people werent copying their music to begin with.thats exactly how they got wouldnt play their music till almost 10 yrs after their mtv debut.

Metallica was very popular before the advent of file-sharing...they were popular before computers made it big in everyday life. What radio statiins were you listening to? Because the head-bangers knew all about Metallica before they sold out to mainstream music so they could GET more airplay. You know nothing.

I read these blogs often enough to know that you are full of fecal matter. According to you, you are 39 years old, and have had, by my count, approximately 30 different "careers". What is that saying? "Jack of all trade, master of none"? You, sir, are full of it, and I have never believed that you can do any of the things you claim you can do; especially when you cannot master simple sentence structure, punctuation, capitaization, and spacing.

That being said, I feel you know just enough about some of the topics to expand upon them and give yourself the aura of intelligence. What I'm essentially saying is that you are a bullsh!t artist. You come off like a braggart, and an absurd one at that.

You were about 10 in 1983.
      Just be quiet.
Wikipedia isn't the source of all knowledge, and you are laughable.

@trinka come to my studio and tell me that.i was a metallica fan in 1983 when dave mustaine was their lead vocalist.he got into a disagreement with james hetfield who fired him.thats why megadeth produces better music.i stopped being a metallica fan when the cut their hair and started making hair band music comparable to poison or winger.

Thats exactly how metallica got their fanbase in the beginning.some skater kid told me to check this sh?t out and popped in a copied tape cassete in my garage while i was goofing with my guitar.sounded pretty cool at the time so i spent my days learning metallica on the guitar.took the copied cassete to the music stores and was told that they never heard of them..the music stores didnt carry metallica until 1985 after master of puppets became popular in the underground with the 1986 their video for"one" from the "and justice for all" album made its mtv debut.they didnt get radio play until 1993 with the "black" album with a poppish sound.sounds to me like u know nothing trinka.

Liar. Don't know where you get your info from, but I have some of Metallica's early recordings, and I bought them in a record store. This has nothing to do with file-sharing anyway...are you on acid or something???

Metallica is older than computers. So am I. I'd never heard of megaupload until I saw this story. I thought it was some kind of mutant amphibian running rampant in NZ, so I clicked on it to find out what it was about.

@ mariane Actually i was 13 at that time and in new orleans metallica was unheard of in 1983. i cant help it that you arent intellegent enough to learn 7 different trades but to let u know i am an ase certified master auto tech.i have mastered 2 trades and fluant in 5 others.maybe you arent intellegent enough to do the same but thatdoesnt mean we are all as stupid as you far as using a cartoon as an example that was just to let you know the internet was around longer than you think.if you want another example the kids were playing with the internet in weird science. My overall point was metallica would be nobody if kids werent copying their cassette tapes in far as punctuation and grammas alot of that has to do with my crappy 3g phone without a qwerty come off as a really hateful b?tch and if i was your husband i would have divorced you long ago.
