Aborigine protesters burn Australian flag outside Parliament

A group of indigenous Australian protesters made headlines for a second day in a row Friday after they gathered outside the Australian Parliament and set fire to the country's flag.

The move came a day after security officers dragged Prime Minister Julia Gillard out of a Canberra restaurant after scores of angry protesters surrounded the building during a luncheon ceremony.

Aborigine leaders on Friday criticized the actions of the group, saying they jeopardized efforts to reconcile indigenous Australians with the broader society.

Video on the website of the Australian Broadcasting Corp. showed a circle of protesters outside Parliament in Canberra setting light to an Australian flag and chanting, "Always was, always will be Aboriginal land."

    Thats what we need in america to remind the invaders (white people) that this land is not ours. We stole land from the original inhabitantes , killed murdered raped for it and most people forget how it was obtained.through blood, by who? White man . And im white my self and i will never see this land as mine , because its not.

    The Indigeous Peoples plight, can be likened to, that of the African and Native American history.
    For example; const i tutional recognition, social and economic status, and finally the Media over-dramatization of protesters.

    Moreover; The reader can not help but notice how Australia and the United States Governments like to bring a referendum to the table during general elections.

    And you would be correct in this...as it relates to the United States.
    doesn't relate as much to the Aboriginies.

    Not to mention, if Native Americans decided to burn the American Flag, there would be total hell to pay.
    That probably wouldn't endear the American people to their plight...

    All that being said, the people of the world have always been wanderers.
    Original racelines have been diluted.
    Just about *everyone's* ancestors came from somewhere else...

    So...my post is gone too. Why? Because the Mods disagreed? OK, I'll say it again. The "natives" in various places lost various wars and therefore the various lands they lived on. It is therefore no longer their land. Not fair. Oh well. That's life. Let's move on. Go ahead. Delete it agian if you disagree, and leave all the pro-native nonsense up there.
