Biden calls Iraqi leaders as bloodshed worsens

As recent bloodshed raises fears of renewed sectarian violence in Iraq, U.S. Vice President Biden has been calling Iraqi leaders in an apparent attempt to soothe political tensions, the White House said Saturday.

Biden telephoned Iraqi Council of Representatives Speaker Osama Nujaifi on Saturday and, a day earlier, spoke with Dr. Ayad Allawi, a leader of the Sunni-backed Iraqiya political bloc.

"The two Iraqi leaders described deliberations under way among all Iraqi political factions and parties in the run-up to a proposed national conference led by President Jalal Talabani," the White House statement said. "The vice president discussed with both leaders the importance of resolving outstanding issues through the political process. The vice president and Iraqi leaders agreed to stay in close touch as events unfold."

In the latest in a series of attacks this year, a suicide car bomber killed at least 31 people and injured 60 more in a Shiite funeral procession in Baghdad on Friday, two police officials said. The bombing occurred as mourners were heading toward a hospital in Baghdad's Zafarniya district to recover the bodies of relatives shot the night before, officials said.

It was always evident the Iraqi plan was to wait until we left so they could go back to what they do best. Kill each other. A call from our vice-president, president or God himself is not going to change it.

Does Biden really think a phone call is going to help?
We never should have been in Iraq in the first place, and a repeat performance is definitely NOT something we can afford to do...!

We need to get the rest of our people out of there. We still have some Marines over there and all the American contractors that are really getting the worse treatment. These contractors are employeed with the Embassy or DoD or private security contract companies and they are being arrested, kidnapped, and/or killed. I have a family member that was detained for several hours and I wonder what his mental and emtional state of mind is going to be when he returns. By the way, he secures the embassy and as far as I know, from the reading material, they are not doing anything about the hundred of prisoners in Iraq.

The USA needs to just say NO to a lot of the things that are happening out in the ME...Syria seems to be calling out the USA's name more and more.
Another country we need to steer clear of.
Too many things need to be accomplished right here in the USA.

    Dear Allah,

Praise be to your greatness for anointing Sheikh GWB to have been the president of the United States. He had made it possible for the brethren to wreak havoc in Iraq. Thanks be to him, actually be to you, that Saddam was swiped away from power. Now our brethren have an easier reach towards Jerusalem.

Dear Allah, please do not renege your promise to Sheikh GWB, about his 72 recycled virgins when he makes if to paradise, for he is a great saint. And may all muslimin who are fervent in the faith to depstroy the current world to enact the new world to come keep in best memory the good works that sheikh GWB has done. Pls Allah, don't forget his 72 recycled virgins.

      You tell me.
      You're either a virgin, or you're not.

What a waste of time and effort AGAIN...these folks love this bickering, stoning, beheadings and bombing so why do we insist on interfering in their fun! This is their age-old lifestyle and we need to accept that (and treat them accordingly) and stay out of their problems that can't be solved by Western thinking. No such thing as too much fun!

More like a wall talking to a wall. Having Biden talking to leaders of any nation is like asking Al Sharpton to speak at a KKK luncheon.

Instead of feeling sad at this honorable fellow blogger@ hamsta and what he, consumed by hate, has to say , I sometime enjoy his spontaneous 'blurts'. Like his 5:41.

In 1996 the three notorious neo-cons ( more appropriately anti-Americans) Richard Perle, David Wurmser and Douglas Feith proposed a strategy of 'Perpetual War' to Benjamin Netanyahu It was titled "The Clean Break – A new Strategy for Securing the Realm". In brief it was to take a clean break from Oslo Peace Accord and keep M.East perpetually destabilized thru military interventions.
This strategy was eagerly accepted by the idiots of Bush-Cheny Realm.
The results we have seen – Iraq & Afghanistan and prologues to military intervention in Syria and Iran

Other thinking fellow bloggers might like to ponder what Renee Parsons, former council woman & mayor of Colorado and a popular advocate for Friends of the Earth, said in a recent article in 'Common Dreams' on Sat.Jan,28.
