Teacher accused of 'bondage' photos of kids to appear in court

Los Angeles elementary school teacher who allegedly took bondage photos of more than two dozen students in his classroom, including some with suspected semen-filled spoons at their mouths, will make a first appearance before a judge Wednesday morning.

Mark Berndt, 61, remained in Los Angeles County jail on a $2.3 million bond.

Authorities arrested him Monday at his home, and charged him with 23 counts of lewd acts on a child.

"I feel for those parents and for those babies - those helpless babies," Wanda Mosley, a resident who near Miramonte Elementary School, told CNN affiliate KABC.

The chilling accusations were a stunning betrayal for many parents.

    Second, this case involes children of both genders.

    Um, why didn't the film developer come forward sooner? I would think after the first roll he deleveloped would have been a red flag...

    Innocent until proven guilty, yes, but photos are worth thousands of words.
    Where was the school administrator in charge of this man?
    With all of my father's faults, he was an effective school administrator. If the floor was filthy, he mopped it.
    One evening he said that he had refused to hire an applying teacher because she "dressed too pretty and smelled too good."
    The buck stops at the top, and the fish smells from the head.

    These kinds of things have always been happening. Who knows if it is more common now. The societal norm generations ago was to mind your own business, even if you suspected something. Generations earlier, the community just dealt with it. There are stories about frontier times, when bad people just disappeared, no arrest, no courts. Comparing the statistics from one time period to another is impossible. You would be trying to hit a moving target.

    How old is this guy? What did he just have s mid life crisis? Where had he been and what else has he been doing? He didn't just appear. How does a person get so far without detection?

The million dollar question IS who aided this MONSTER in his demented activities. furthermore, he is 61 yrs old and has never been charged as far as authorities can tell. Leading me to believe a network of enablers and sickos existence even more wide-spread.
