Charges dismissed against soldier in Afghan sport killing case, military says

(CNN) - Charges have been dismissed against an Army soldier accused in what prosecutors described as a conspiracy to kill Afghan civilians for sport and then cover it up, the military said Friday.

The charges against Spec. Michael S. Wagnon were dismissed without prejudice, according to a statement released by the military at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington.

"The United States dismissed the charges in the interest of justice," the statement said.

It was not immediately clear why the charges were dropped. The U.S. military and Wagnon's attorney, Colby Vokey, did not immediately respond to a CNN request for comment.

Why charge this man ? After all it was 'sport killing'.
Well hunting is a sport & we don't charge people for killing animals.
OOps I forgot! If I get it correct it were humans that were killed in 'sport' or were they?
Perhaps we have a different definition of humans??

sarcasm alert for those who would be ready to pounce on this post.
