Fans, celebrities react to Whitney Houston's death: 'We will always love you'

Legendary pop singer Whitney Houston has died at age 48, representative Kristen Foster said Saturday night.

The cause of death and where she died were not immediately known. In May 2011, Houston got help for her much-publicized struggle with drugs and alcohol, her representative said at the time.

According to her official website, Houston, who struggled with addiction problems over the years, sold more than 170 million albums, singles and videos over her career.

As news of her death spread online her fans and celebrities tweeted that they were absolutely shocked and saddened at the news.

Breaks my heart to see a world full of hatred. We all make mistakes at some point in our life. Her life was full of more positive than negative. Ppl only want to see the negative and I feel bad for those who want to judge her. Only God can judge her and all the negative ppl should be worried about is when their judgment day comes. RIP Whitney u deserve all the respect we can give to u for teaching us the best life lesson <3

My heartfelt condolences to Ms. Cissy Houston, Bobbi Christina, and all family and friends of Whitney Houston. We hurt as fans, I can not begin to guess how you must feel. Her talent set the bar in the 80s and still remains the goal...everyone wanted to sound like her, she was an amazing singer...she was our Whitney and we will always love and thank God for her. We can rest in the fact that she is now with "her Jesus".

i wore out her albums playing "how will i know" and "i wanna dance with somebody" when i was a plump teenager. i was trying to lose weight at the time. i didn't realize it, but i was dancing to those songs so much, i ended up losing 10 pounds in 2 weeks. i must say that i grew up with her albums/songs as i grew into womanhood. i am very sad, as she was only a few years older than me.

she's taken her songs with her now, and i hope she keeps singing.

I read that Bobby Brown says he is "devastated"! ....... Whitney is where she is now because B.B. introduced her to drugs
and the wild lifestyle that cost her, her life .....B.B. should be ashamed to say you are " devastated"......I would keep my mouth shut right now.....if I were you...
