Taliban will not talk peace with Karzai government, spokesman says

(CNN) - The Taliban have met with U.S. officials to discuss possible peace talks, but do not want to negotiate with Afghan President Hamid Karzai's government, a Taliban spokesman said Tuesday.

The spokesman's comments, rejecting a key American condition, could potentially derail American efforts for Afghans to reach a negotiated end to the decade-long war.

In an e-mail response to questions from CNN, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid denied previous reports that the Taliban had been invited to meet with the Karzai government in Saudi Arabia, saying that talks with what he called a "puppet" government were pointless.

"We have never been asked to attend talks with Karzai administration officials in Saudi Arabia, but even if we are asked to attend, we won't because (the) Karzai government is a puppet and unauthorized, and meeting with them will not be beneficial in solving the issue," Mujahid wrote in a message from an e-mail account regularly used by the Taliban to issue statements.

Right. It's much better to just roam around in the hills, eating rats and planting roadside bombs for schollbuses to run over. That's a much better life than negotiating with your enemies.

  5. Koran

According to the Koran, it would be like spitting in the face of God for the Taliban to negotiate with the Karzai administration. Karzai is a Renegade (like a benedict arnold) according to the Koran. Not only are faithful Muslims commanded not to do business with Renegades, they are commanded to "deal especially harshly" with them. You might recall how a few Renegade Muslims were dragged through the streets of Fallujah, Iraq a few years ago...even hung in the street. It's not just Jews vs. Muslims in the middle east. It's Jews/Renegade Muslims vs. true Muslim worshippers faithful to the Koran..

The Taliban is a terrorist network & not true to any religion! They may Hide behind Islam, but are the "puppets" of whoever foots their bills! To try to negotiate Peace w/these bullies is an excercise in futility! BOMBO speaks truth; if they didn't have some1 to fight, they'd fight eachother!!

That's right. Fake Muslims who live a life contrary to the Koran treat their fellow Muslim's who hold the Koran in High Regard just as fake Christians treat their fellows struggling to be faithful to God's word. The Holy Bible... with ridicule and disdain. How dare you ignorant ones look down upon the very book that without which we would have no Christianity at all.

Anyone, anywhere, anytime a book is used, no matter what country or language or faith, to spread hate, death, and hopelessness, I will be the first to condenm it.

...as if the bible "spreads hate, death". Maybe in the hands of some "holy man of God" religious leader that preaches young men onto the battlefield as if it were God's. (except the cute ones that he humped on too much)

...condemn the baseball bat but not the hitter. It's not the bible's fault religious leaders twist "Live by the sword, die by the sword" into go kill fellow Christainas.. "Beat your swords into plowshears" into beat that little boys ass into a humpy hole. Renegade Muslims and False Christians abound. Neither being true to the words of their respective holy books.

      Let me add an addendum:
...it's up to the reader to figure out what book resonates so closely with them that they get angry at me and go off on tangents.
