7 firefighters injured after 'fire ball' in Maryland house

Seven firefighters were hospitalized after a house fire in Riverdale, Maryland, authorities said.

The fire broke out at a one-story, vacant house shortly after 9 p.m. Friday, the Prince George's County Fire Department said Saturday.

"Preliminary reports indicate that firefighters had initiated an interior attack on the fire when a sudden rush of air, fanned by high winds, entered from the rear of the house either from a door or window being opened or broken out," the fire department said in a statement. "The sudden addition of a large amount of fresh air into the fire environment created a 'fire ball' inside, engulfing the firefighters."

Firefighters and first responder are our everyday heros.
Anyone who doesn't think so has never met one.
    May they recover, and quickly.

My thoughts and prayers are truly with you. I wish there were some kind of words to make that experience easier. All I can say is know yourselves. Nobody else can do that. I know it's going to be trying for you psychologically when you come back, but it's a fight you need to make for yourself. Good luck guys.

    Superman:
Nobody was saying anything deragatory about you...

I would speculate that they were inside the house to make sure there were no squatters there.
Fighting it soley from the outside would ensure a certain death to anyone inside, Ruffie.
Even the homeless deserve to live...
