Syrian official: No one dying from hunger, sickness even as deaths mount

While carnage mounts in the streets of Syria, the war of words rages on as well.

"We are not happy to see brothers killing each other," Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem said, insisting that no regime cares more about the Syrian people than his government.

The foreign minister told reporters no one is dying in Syria because of hunger or sickness, and said that despite an "economic international boycott," his government is providing all necessary services.

His words fly in the face of opposition activists and world leaders who say the regime's sustained slaughter has killed thousands.

SAmong shelling, tanks, arrests and starvation it seems to be the situation for thousands as people are being disappeared in Syria. Its become his mode of operation as Assad lashes his fury on his own nation. Once you have had power over people your whole life, led them and I would imagine loved them; how can it be so hard to free them? Maybe he never loved, at all...

Syrian Official (speaking on condition of anonymity) :

We are proud to announce they we have not allowed one single solitary person to die of starvation or disease. That's right, we kill them before it reaches that point. Now tell me, how can you be more humane than that ? And the world is against us why ?
