North Korea approves missile, nuclear curbs, U.S. says

North Korea has agreed to a moratorium on nuclear activity at Yongbyon, its major nuclear facility, the U.S. State Department said Wednesday. North Korea also has agreed to a moratorium on long-range missile launches.

The announcement came Wednesday after a U.S. delegation returned from Beijing following a third exploratory round of bilateral talks.

In a statement, the State Department said the United States "still has profound concerns regarding North Korean behavior across a wide range of areas" but that today’s announcement "reflects important, if limited, progress in addressing some of these."

Ironically the report has left out the reason North Korea is letting the inspections take place is because they need food aid and the U.S. bargained with them. If they don't comply, then the innocent civilians do not get food.

I believe you will see Kin Jong Un work with the US and try and better relations to help his people, and then will be assasinated by the generals in his military or China for doing so.

I think that China wants stability in Korea, because they're more concerned with economic issues, and don't want to get drawn into a war because of this fifth rate country, so they won't assasinate him. His own generals, on the other hand, very well might.

I only feel China may because they want to limit US involvement in the region. They have no desire for the US to become "friendly" with North Korea.

The fact that he is concerned enough for his people to find a solution makes me like him. Build farms, not missiles. Why would North Korea even need much of a defense? Don't they know that China will protect them for their own reasons? No one is going to attack North Korea, its time to hang up our guns and learn to get along.

Kim Jong-Un, in order to agree to the moratorium, was given 250 Big Macs/Fries and large chocolate shakes.

This is North Korea... does anyone even know history? They have done this for decades: Sure we'll play... now we'll threaten annihilation... now we'll play nice, seriously... now we'll launch a few missiles and threaten annihilation... now seriously, now we're really, truly going to play nice... now we are going to threaten South Korea with annihilation.... ok, we're awfully sorry, but now we really mean it, we're going to play nice... annihilation... nice... annihilation... nice... annihilation .... nice.... annihilation.... nice....
