The Illinois house where the 1990 box-office hit "Home Alone" was filmed has been sold for $1.59 million, CNN affiliate WBBM-TV in Chicago reports. The sellers owned the Winnetka, Illinois, house when the movie was shot there. No word if the residence comes with Macaulay Culkin's improvised anti-burglary systems.
A San Diego-area girl is collecting hundreds of signatures to fight a state proposal that would hasten the euthanizing of shelter animals, CNN affiliate KSWB-TV in San Diego reports. To save money, California Gov. Jerry Brown has proposed requiring shelters to wait three days before euthanizing stray animals, as opposed to the current six-day wait. Hannah Conway, 9, responded with the "Animals Donâ€™t Have Voices But Kids Do" campaign.
A Florida girl with a rare genetic disease is recovering after a triple organ transplant that may save her life, CNN affiliate WSVN in Miami reports. Angela Bushi, 6, is the first child recipient of a liver, kidney and pancreas transplant, according to WSVN. The operation comes after doctors feared she would die following liver failure.
St. Louis-area resident Art Fletcher has no desire to stop his weekly bowling routine, even at 100, CNN affiliate KTVI-TV in St. Louis reports. His average score still is above his age, even though he is legally blind. "We have to tell where the pins are, and he has to use his imagination," an acquaintance tells the TV station.
