Today's programming highlights...

9:30 am ET - Gingrich in Louisiana - GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is spending primary day in Louisiana, where he will meet with voters in Shreveport.  He'll also hold a town hall-style meeting in Ruston.

10:00 am ET - Afghanistan war hearing - The House Armed Services Committee holds a hearing on the current situation in Afghanistan amid growing tensions between the U.S. and Kabul.

11:15 am ET - White House briefing - The Afghanistan crisis and spending will likely top Press Secretary Jay Carney's agenda with the White House press corps.

12:00 pm ET - Obama luncheon with Irish PM - Every year around this time, the Irish prime minister comes to Washington to meet with the president and drop off a bowl of shamrocks.  That's the case this year, as Irish PM Enda Kenny will hold talks with President Obama. 

12:00 pm ET - John King live chat - CNN's John King joins us once again to talk about the Illinois primary, presidential politics and whatever else is on his mind!  You can ask John a question via Twitter @JohnKingCNN.

7:00 pm ET - Illinois primary - We'll be with some of the GOP presidential candidates as the Illinois primary results come in.

    I for one, will be glad when the race for the GOP will be over, so we can get on to better, more important things. Like the fact the russians have gone into syria! Whats up with that?

    @chrissy did russia really go into syria or is that just to rattle nerves? If russia has done so than we are free of that one maybe, or its going to end just like when russia went into afghanistan they got tore up there so either way we would have to intervene to

    Man im sick of these guys. Santorum couldnt get reelected in his own state and now he wants to move up to president. Romney keeps getting his lies mixed up and his own party dont think he has the stuff. Newt and paul total jokes. The world is watching this mess.
