The New York Jets have announced on their Twitter account that they have agreed to a trade with the Denver Broncos for quarterback Tim Tebow.
The Jets have agreed in principle to the trade, the team said on its Facebook page.
The new comes a day after quarterback Peyton Manning announced he would play for the Denver Broncos and less than two weeks after the Jets and quarterback Mark Sanchez agreed on a contract extension.
"This is truly a special football environment, and I'm glad to be a part of it," Manning said at a news conference on Tuesday.
"I haven't had a whole lot of time to breathe. This happened Monday morning," Manning said of his decision to join the Broncos.
The arrival in Denver of a superstar of Manning's stature raised questions about the fate of Tim Tebow, who became the Broncos starting quarterback last year amid electric fanfare and led the team into the playoffs. Tebow won the Heisman Trophy in 2007, when he played for the University of Florida.
Tebow gained widespread media attention after leading his team to big wins down the stretch of games when they were behind. He also garnered a lot of attention, and jokes, because of his strong Christian faith. He even sparked the phenomenon of "Tebowing," named after his prayer pose following touchdowns.
Good! Nobody in NE wanted him. Too much of a Jesus freak.
Jets for Jesus!
Hmmm...he actually has a chance against Sanchez...
No he does not the Jets just extended Sanchez at a very decent dollar amount. Sanchez has the better arm , Tebow has a lot to learn to just become a adequate backup. We all saw how the Patriots ate him up, no way the Jets make the mistake of starting him.
I had heard the rumors that NE might get him and I'm glad they didn't. I don't think Fatty Arbuckle will be able to show an improvement with him at QB over Sanchez.
Damn. I wanted him back in Florida.
when you suck....take any offer
I don't see what being a "Jesus freak" has to do with this at all. Sure, Tebow is a deeply religious young man but he's also a very good quarterback who with a little more practice with a pro-style offense could turn out to be one of the NFL's premiere quarterbacks. I think he's too good for a team like the Patriots anyway.
Elite? Do you watch football?
Guess I'll have to root for my old hometown team! LOVE TEBOW!
Great, now the Jets have two quarterbacks that can't throw!
It gives the Jets another running threat. Wonder if they will use both QBs at the same time for some formations?
Wildcat formations will be aplenty, unfortunately. They have become common place and are now defended more readily. If the Jets are smart ( sigh) they will try it once a game and keep Tebow as the backup he might become.

I can't wait to see how many throws before Manning re-injures himself and puts him out of the game for good. He is an ego driven idiot with nothing to prove, why take a chance to permanently disable yourself? Men truly are born with the idiot gene. Elway you are a moron..you talk out of both sides of your mouth. Tebow is my man/Tebow has to go I hope Manning makes you eat those words. The jets are lucky to have Tebow.
spoken like...a true Kennedy – idiot
Tebow is a hunk.
He is my man, i am wide open and waiting.
give it to me baby.......
agree. well said
tebow sucks,bad move by jets!
Tebow for a 4th round pick is not a terrible idea, we did need a back up QB. Lets see if he progresses to the point of being an adequate backup QB.
WHY WHY WHY WHY!!!!!
freaking insult. tebow takes broncos to playoffs and the thanks he gets is a trade for a 4th round draft choice?! ill luck to the broncos i say and to his high and mighty elway. and 96 million to manning?! really? what is he, 35 yo now? with a neck injury to boot. that offense at denver will never be able to protect him and one good shot (note how many tebow took while there and don't say he took too much time... B.$.) and there goes your "star". course tebow won't whine about it, or wish anyone ill..... but i'm not as good as he.....
And Tebow could not hold Mannings jock strap after a long brutal game. Denver, if they can protect Manning, will be the most improved team. The Jets, well we now have a possible Back up QB.
