The New York Jets have announced on their Twitter account that they have agreed to a trade with the Denver Broncos for quarterback Tim Tebow.
The Jets have agreed in principle to the trade, the team said on its Facebook page.
The new comes a day after quarterback Peyton Manning announced he would play for the Denver Broncos and less than two weeks after the Jets and quarterback Mark Sanchez agreed on a contract extension.
"This is truly a special football environment, and I'm glad to be a part of it," Manning said at a news conference on Tuesday.
"I haven't had a whole lot of time to breathe. This happened Monday morning," Manning said of his decision to join the Broncos.
The arrival in Denver of a superstar of Manning's stature raised questions about the fate of Tim Tebow, who became the Broncos starting quarterback last year amid electric fanfare and led the team into the playoffs. Tebow won the Heisman Trophy in 2007, when he played for the University of Florida.
Tebow gained widespread media attention after leading his team to big wins down the stretch of games when they were behind. He also garnered a lot of attention, and jokes, because of his strong Christian faith. He even sparked the phenomenon of "Tebowing," named after his prayer pose following touchdowns.
Lucky for Tebow, Sanchez is one of the few QBs in the league worse then he is. Sanchez had the lowest QBrating among starting QBs last year. A sad statistic when you are a very talented team like the Jets. Hell, Sanchez wasn't even a starter during college at USC!! Tebow will get the starting nod sometime throughout the season and Tebowmania will start up again.
lol not according to the stats...
All of you that are upset with Tebow leaving Denver and believe he is a good QB don't have any knowledge of football. You can't question the kids drive to win, but he's game is incomplete. He can't pass for dam and will ONLY succeed in a college football-style spread offense, look at the proof. Tebow sucks face it!
Well, that is the same thing the critics used to say about Elway, that he was just a mobile quarterback but not a passer. And Elway is a traiter and a hyprocrite because the same cricticsm made against him is now being made against Tim and instead of supporting Tim, Elway betrays him and trades him away! I believe the only bad thing about this trade is that Rex Ryan who I'm not very fond of is going to be hoisting the Lombardy Trophy next year. But I just wish I could bet all the Tebow nay sayers across America a $1000 the Jets will be in next year's super boul. I'd be f-ing rich!
After signing Sanchez to a $40 million contract for 3 years-it makes no sense to stir the pot. I think Tebow will be traded again-Jets don't need more QBs..
Jets need all the Quarterbacks they can get.
Collect em, trade em, bench em.
TIM WILL PROVE THE CRITICS WRONG
Are you still going to the super boul ?
Have a boul of supe while you thunk it over.
Saints fans are having a better day today than Jets fans are. I've officially become an ex-Jets fan. I have a few months to decide what team I am going to support this year, other than "whoever the Jets are playing", which is already a given.
You are welcome in the Steeler Nation....
Manning for $90 million. Who might have a few good years left in him. Or not. That's weird.
He's gotta pass a physical each of those 5 years. Plus what price Superbowl?
Well, I for one was crossing my fingers for the Panthers to pick up Tebow.
Panthers get him next week.
After that he goes to Jaquars, then Dolphins, then....
Hey Tebow, try the CFL.
Elway asked WWJD.
Answer: Dump Tebau sign Manning! LOL
So when Manning reinjures his injury...who they gonna call..that's right they have no one else...GO TEBOW!
please stay in the kitchen and leave the football talk to the men
Think the experts are right on this one. Manning is a true professional in-the-pocket set and throw quarterback. Tebow is a big strong athlete, who knows how to play winning football, but can't throw the ball with consistent accuracy. He will complement Sanchez running of the spread and can certainly be used as a wide out or another offensive position.
Tebow will be happy and play hard wherever he goes.
Maybe add another dimension to the Jets game.
J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets!
Jets just picked up a bunch of fans and a boatload of merchandise sales.
i'd much rather have tebow in the afc east than manning.. excellent..
go PATS!
"Sorry Tim,I had to do this to get Elway to SHUT UP!"
