Gotta Watch: The perils of texting and walking

We’ve all texted when we probably shouldn’t have. Maybe it was while waiting in line, walking down the street, or pushing a cart at the grocery store. The people below have suffered the consequences of texting while walking, too. They’ve done everything from dropping into a manhole to falling into Lake Michigan. Consider this a warning to avoid the same fate. Have you ever run into anything while texting? Post your stories in the comments below.

Pier plunge

A Michigan woman was sending a text near Lake Michigan and didn’t realize how close she was to the water. She tripped and fell six feet into the water below. See what she did when she realized she was falling.

Fountain fall

This video of a woman falling into a mall fountain while texting made a big splash online. She wasn’t too happy about being a national punch line. But it was her behavior after the memorable moment that really sent Anderson Cooper over the edge on his RidicuList.

Manhole mayhem

After a New York teen fell into a manhole while texting, we found plenty of examples of other texting mishaps. Compare yourself to these people to see if you’re a “technosexual.”

Not just women... remember that locomotive engineer that caused a major train accident in California while he was texting a couple of years ago?

Can't believe "Fountain Lady" want to sue the mall's security firm for not warning her. Guess they could have made an announcement on the PA like "Wake up, stupid!", but then she would want to sue for public humiliation.

    Stupid is as stupid does!

If anyone needs sued it'd be the manufacturers of these little attention grabbing devices that people just can't seem to live without.

The fountain lady was sentenced for credit card fraud by stealing her friend's card and using it to buy clothes.

The Fountain lady is the worst. She made a fool of herself, but no one knew who she was until she went on TV and now everyone can make fun of her in public. She should sue herself!

I watched the Fountain Lady clip on tv when it happened. I still say she saw it. She lifts her
leg just before she goes in. I think she planned it. It reminds me of the Wendy's finger -in-the-chili-incident.

Wow! They really did it. They split this into separate video reels so that they could get more sponsor ads in and score additional coin. What BS. I'm not going to watch any of them.

FOUNTAIN LADY, READ THIS!. Be grateful that you did your stupid act in a mall, and not out on the street where you might have been assaulted or worse while you had your nose in that @#%& phone. You have only YOURSELF to blame. Get rid of your ambulance chasing attorney. If I was on the jury, YOU (and your attorney) would be paying the court costs for filing a frivolous lawsuit. You demonstrate what is wrong with our society. Take responsibility for your own actions.
