Parole denied for Manson

A California panel denied parole for Charles Manson and scheduled his next parole hearing 15 years from now, setting up the possibility that he could die in prison.

Manson, 77, initially was sentenced to death for the 1969 slayings of actress Sharon Tate and six others by a group of his followers as part of what prosecutors said was an attempt to incite a race war. His death sentence was changed to life in prison after California's death penalty was overturned for a period during the 1970s.

I wasn't born when the whole Tate case happened. Nevertheless, with all the information now available thanks to books and the internet I'm able to see the whole picture. Charles Manson IS NOT a MASS Murderer. For all you who don't know, the swastika is a buddhist symbol that means eternity and has nothing to do with nazis, they took as theirs. doesn't matter if he goes on parole or not, he knows he won't, but it's important to know the truth.

Know the truth... there is a VERY BIG difference between the Buddhist Swasi (swastika) and the inverted nazi swastika...

Are you for real? He was a cult leader and probably still is; there are more people following this man than are following Romney. He brain washed his followers into all those killings. Where should he be in your opinion, out hanging with his buddies smoking weed? By the way, one of the victims was 8 months pregnant !!!!
AND most educated people know the origins of the swastika, but thanks.

So, if Charles Manson is not a mass murderer, who killed all those people?

He only started a group where he was the leader who brainwashed the rest. The group entered a house and killed all 6 people inside brutally. The actress Sharon Tate who was 8 months pregnant was cut open while still alive, the baby removed and killed in front of her before she died.

I really don't think the 'big issue' with Manson and his followers is what he's had imprinted on his face. I think you've totally missed the boat with your comments. It may have more to do with the innocent people they SLAUGHTERED just because!! Not to mention that Sharon Tate was also pregnant at the time! Seriously? I could care less if he tatooed his entire body, that's not what people are holding against him. It appears that you aren't even close to seeing the 'whole picture'. Though I'm sure there are actual crime scene photos available somewhere on the internet if you really look.

Orchestrating a murder/ass murder is considered just as severe an offence as the actual murder, if not worse. The Swastika has been used for centuries before the Nazis came along. The Nazis created their own variation of it the angles of and adding their won little flavour to it. You should really research before you post...

Deluded. He conspired to murder, he was sentenced to death, he should have gone already.

And how much did it cost the state of CA. to come to this conclusion. If he died when he was sentanced It would not cost anything.

Even if he was normal and set free, he wouldn't know how to function in society after all this time..

"Life" in prison is about 20 years. I doubt anyone can deny that after 20 years you are the same person whether free or in prison. It is cruel and unusual punishment to deny their freedom after 20 years. Such a denial is strictly emotionally based and therefore illegal. Mr Manson deserves to die a free man. He is there because of what his followers did, not what he did. This country is too jail happy. The U.S. has 5% of the world population but has 25% of the prison population. Does that mean we have 25% of the criminals in the world are living in the U.S.? No, it strictly means our economy relies on the slave labor while our Government complains about China using their prisoners for the same reason.

Hey there God, why don't we set him free and have him live with you.
He still has more influence than most people, even after all these years; imagine him leading another group?
He also gets an enormous amount of fan mail. Denying him parole is a fabulous idea.... Maybe they should stop granting him parole hearings altogether, he does not care and never shows.

"Mr Manson deserves to die a free man. He is there because of what his followers did, not what he did. " He convinced people he was The Messiah, then sent them out to kill for him. Can he come live at your house?

So you think it is better to let him out to find more victims. Prison is supposed to separate people, who hurt society, from society so they are unable to do more damage. This man should never be allowed to repeat his crimes.

man, i am totally shocked he even had a parole hearing. I was born in 1970. And heard the story. Never read the book about him. So i am going to go to the library and find the book ; read it . Before i make any judgements.

weird.....he never killed anyone.....and Casey Anthony walks around freely? Wow! SMH!!! Why wouldn't they put him in a psyche ward where he belongs? I thought people went to prison for crimes....not brainwashing...??? Maybe I'm confuaed......

You are definitely confused. Or sadly misinformed. Manson was a killer, period, even if you only consider the indisputable facts. Even if he never actually killed anyone (and most people associated with the case believe he did, but not the hi-profile Tate/LaBiance murders), he DID help tie them up before they were killed, he orchestrated the entire event, and none of those murders would have taken place without him.

The whole idea that we have to keep looking at his evil ugly face and that the news media keeps bringing him out to show him off every few years is in and of itself CRIMINAL. WE DON'T WANT TO SEE HIM ANYMORE...JUST PUT HIM AWAY AND THROW WAY THE KEY...AND WHEN HE DIES...PLEASE BURY HIM IN AN UNMARKED GRAVE. THANK YOU!

He's got money and followers, and when he dies, they will claim his body and bury it somewhere so they can venerate it.

Keep him locked up like the monster he is...no matter what happens to you, gives you no excuse to kill any human being!
