Jury selection to begin John Edwards' trial

Jury selection begins in a Greensboro, North Carolina, federal courtroom Thursday in the trial of 2008 Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

Edwards is charged with six felony and misdemeanor counts related to the money dealings of his failed 2008 campaign.

Rielle Hunter, his former mistress, is expected to testify at the trial.

A major issue in the approaching trial is whether money given to support Hunter, by the then-candidate's benefactors should have been considered donations toward his presidential campaign.

Edwards maintains the money was a gift.

Edwards is accused of conspiracy, issuing false statements and violating campaign contribution laws. He denies any wrongdoing.

If convicted on all counts, Edwards could face 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $1.5 million.

    And when astrocities are done by sitting president no one cares, yet with Edwards it has S @ x and that certainly sells doesn't? especially to the dulled down citizen.

    Careful what is said about, especially Edwards. He's part of the leftist regime currently in this country.

    @Jeff. That's because the rightest regime is more interested in Afghanistan, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Lybia, Iran, and coming soon, Venezuela. If they were to regroup here in the continental US, they could squash the little donkey head with their big fat Elephant ass.

    ...still. Imagine being even a big huge Elephant loaded down with a load of donkey dung. Legs all wobbly from the sheer weight of those living off of our overly generous welfare, disability, and entytlement programs. Poor big feller. Hope he can hold out under all that weight. (nationwide obesity epidemic weight, among others mentioned)

    @chrissy (faux)
    Things are starting to really tighten down on hi-jackers. You really need to leave. We're just a few mouseclicks away from the FBI's cybercrimes division. You had better clean up I.P., with someone real behind the keyboard, rather than masking it (oldschool), fool. Besides that, that girl is probably getting tired, just as everyone else is, of your ghost trolling crap.

    @Jeff. The FBI is so overwhelmed they don't even have time to investigate medical, social security disability, and military entytlement fraud cases. Our Social Security Administration and Pentagon just pay the fraudsters off. The CIA even had to help the FBI bust a nationwide conspiracy ring of MD's prescribing pharmaceuticals for profit exclusively to people scamming the system last year. The freaking CIA had to move their domestic affairs division to Denver to be centralized with the FBI. the feds ain't gonna do squat about these partisan microbloggers who hijack s/n's. (duh)
