North Korea rocket breaks up in flight
Defying warnings from the international community, North Korea launched a long-range rocket on Friday, but it broke apart before escaping the earth's atmosphere and fell into the sea, officials said.
"It flew about a minute, and it flew into the ocean," said Noriyuki Shikata, a spokesman for Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda.
He added that Japanese authorities "have not identified any negative impacts, so far," though he said the international ramifications could be significant. "This is something that we think is a regrettable development," he said.
Joseph Cirincione, president of the global security foundation The Ploughshares Fund, told CNN that the launch's apparent failure "shows the weakness of the North Korea missile program" and suggests that the threat from North Korea has been "exaggerated."
"It's a humiliation," he told CNN. "I wouldn't want to be a North Korean rocket scientist today."

Please apologise my Schadenfreude, North Korea. Maybe it would have been better to invest all this money, time and effort in food production.

betcha if they had used some duck tape ittah worked...
It's good news for the international community that we still know North Korea cannot launch missiles anywhere they like and that does deserve a deep breath.
That being said, in science we all know we learn more from our mistakes and this test still brings them closer to the capability of mounting a nuclear warhead on an ICBM. What will be done to stop further advancement down this dark road we know well from the Cold War?

The damn thing was made out of plastic.. that's why it broke up. People need to know this. Plastic pipes called rockets don't made it to space! PVC pipe doesn't work either!

They bought that rocket from China,see what ya get for 99 cents.They should have used it at their new years day celebration.People there are starvin,and all they thing of is getting high,pretty pathedic ha!!!
