Photo shows Pippa Middleton with man apparently wielding gun

A photo of Pippa Middleton showing her in a car with a man wielding what appears to be a gun in France is causing an uproar after its publication in the UK newspaper The Sun.

Paparazzi were taking pictures of Prince William's sister-in-law, who was in the passenger seat of a black Audi convertible as she was headed to a train station in Paris. The driver of the car wielded a gun, apparently pointing it in the air and then toward a photographer, who was following them and captured the shot, according to The Sun. It is unclear whether the gun was real or fake.

CNN's Matthew Chance reported he spoke to lawyers who said while it is unlikely that Middleton would face any charges unless it could be proved she encouraged the driver to point the gun on public streets, the driver could face charges of threatening with a firearm if French authorities wanted to do so.

The photographer who snapped the shot was "considering his options" about a formal police complaint, The Sun reported.

Middleton is the sister of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, who married Prince William last year. William is second in line to the British throne behind his father, Prince Charles.

Buckingham Palace told Chance it would not comment on the photo because  Middleton is not a member of the royal family.

The photo is causing a stir, in part because there have been problems with gun violence in France recently, including an attack last month that killed seven people, including four children.

The incident took place while security was being heightened ahead of France's presidential election.

Perhaps the photographers have forgotten what happens when they chase people. I am not saying you point a gun, but you know what...the last royal person they chased vigorously they killed.

Ah. I may have to give Ms. Middleton a second, more appreciative thought now. Every woman should have lethal force within reach: it keeps us men in line.

Oh heavens! A gun, a gun! Throw everyone who has any connection to the driver in prison! (Faint). Come on, Brits, you are all such sissy poms.

On the other hand, there are umpteen times as many violent deaths (most from guns, not axes) in the US as there are in the UK, so perhaps we Yanks should shut our yaps and learn what they may be doing right.

And before you "Stand our Ground"-ers out there respond angrily, imagine you are speaking to someone whose child or other loved one has been impacted by gun violence – because chances are VERY high you are.

You numbering of women indicates that you will eventually end up with no one nearly as attractive as either a '10' or a '5', using your scale of 'judgement'. On another not, that young lady is beautiful, so step off.

Well I guess if The Sun is up in arms about it (no pun intended) it must be real news!

Funniest line in the whole worthless article. I'm guessing he'll sue for "emotional distress"

Even in America, pointing a gun at someone is considered Assault with a Deadly Weapon, unless they had a reason to feel threatened. So as much as I disagree with the paparazzi, pointing a gun at someone, even without intent, is one tiny mistake away from a horrible accident that can ruin dozens of lives.

The photographer who was harrassing them and snapping pictures is "considering his opitions". If he did press some legal action, it would be perfect. This way I could find out his name and where he lived. I would then do a paparazzi on him. Everytime he left his house, he'd see my face, every time he looked out the window he'd see me. Hopefully he'd be marrried with kids, whose pictures I could take on the way to school. He'd hear my camera snapping in his dreams. And best of all, it would be all legal. You know what they say about payback!

CNN continues to add fuel to the anti-gun fire. You can't blame the wine this time. It was the incessant hounding by the paparazzi that killed Diana, and those who are charged with protecting Pippa aren't going to let it happen again.

Note to all paparazzi: BACK THE HELL OFF!
