The National Weather Service has confirmed 59 tornadoes from a weekend outbreak of storms that killed six people.
"The Storm Prediction Center estimates the total will be around 75 when all surveys are complete," the weather service website said.
There were initial reports of 135 tornadoes - spread across Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Oklahoma - from the sprawling storm system that ripped across the Plains and Midwest on Saturday. A much smaller outbreak was reported Sunday.
At the time, the weather service said a final confirmed count would only come after officials had a chance to fan out across the states and determine how many of the reports were indeed tornadoes.

Mother Nature is *not* a happy camper so far....
My sympathies and thoughts are with those in the affected areas & families of those who died.
"Mother Nature" is just not happy.
60. That's 7 more than died during the Rodney King domestic terror attacks. Remember? A bunch of terrorists disguised as American citizens addicted to crack resulted in the loss of 53 lives, and hundreds and hundreds of injuries from to citizens from LA all the way to Long Beach where the 28th fire was set by the usually centered hordes. (not counting riots in other cities) Wondering how many fires a single tornado can set.
What with ruptuted gas lines and live eletrical wires and all plenty of fires!!! Say what the hell you want to say about the LA riots, but you are out of your mind to even THINK the two can be compared! OMG! Really????!
True that. I'd much rather see a tornado blow through south central LA than to have another Rodney King moment.
@Philip and @LA resident, tell that to Joplin. What a dumb comment!!! ONE tornado, 116 lives and millions in damages. What a reach...apples and oranges. Stupidest segue EVER!!!
