Official: Helicopter crashes in Afghanistan, likely killing 4 Americans

A Black Hawk helicopter crashed Thursday in southern Afghanistan, likely killing all four of its crew members - all of them Americans - a U.S. military official said.

The crash occurred in bad weather, though the official said "we cannot yet rule out enemy action."

Troops at a combat outpost in the area waiting to be picked up saw the crash happen, the official said. Another helicopter flying nearby was not affected.

    The Taliban will take Afghanistan over anyways. What the point of fighting there?
    Only the military – industrial complex gains from having these wars.
    Why Americans are so naive?
    Pull out now!
    You Americans fight on behalf of one group of muslims against an other group of muslims.
    What the point?

      David, we aren't naive. We just don't give the orders. YOUR elected officials do.

    "He gazed up at the enormous face. Forty years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark moustache. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother." - George Orwell, 1984

    @military meat grinder

    Please be respectful, these young soldiers paid the ultimate sacrafice serving you... You can critize US policy, the President or congress or even the People of the US, but I draw the line at our soldiers. Please leave the troops alone, they follow, carry out orders and Die at the will of the people we Elect. You have a problem with the War. look at yourself and who you've elected. But for godsake leave our troops alone, they have sacraficed everything to serve the country that they love. For you to belittle them is Disgracefull and you sir have no Honor.

    Thanks to our brave warriors, who give their lives so that jerks like some on this thread who value not their lives nor the liberty that they have to act like jerks. When the jerks have killed all the corporations and the wealthy and Wall Street and the Armed Forces, who will they call when they are being beheaded on the soccer field. God bless our armed forces.

    It saddens me to see young lives taken. Many of our service personnel signed up with the best of intentions and should be honored for their sacrifice. Some, sadly, signed up just to kill "skinnys", Clearly now, those good intentions are being misused by our fully corrupted leaders, while the worst intentions are merely being "put to good use" If you see someone doing wrong, you must act to stop it, so now we have more and more people calling out the elite for what they are doing. The paradigm has shifted. No longer is it Democrat against Republican, Black against White or what ever false divisions have been created. Now it is Government against Freedom. The lines being drawn, the contrast has never been sharper, the giant is starting to awaken. As for Afghanistan, it is the graveyard of empires and it may well be ours. America was never supposed to be an empire. We have lost our way.
