President Barack Obama said in an interview with ABC that "it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married."
With his Wednesday announcement, the president reversed his longstanding position on the issue. It came on the heels of his own vice president and education secretary saying they were in favor of gay marriage.
According to an ABC blog post, Obama further described his thought process as an "evolution" that progressed as he discussed the issue with staff members, gay and lesbian service members and his own family.
He said he thinks Americans are growing increasingly comfortable with the concept of gay marriage and cited his own daughters' views on the matter.
“It’s interesting, some of this is also generational,” he said. “You know, Malia and Sasha, they have friends whose parents are same-sex couples. There have been times where Michelle and I have been sitting around the dinner table and we’re talking about their friends and their parents.
"And Malia and Sasha, it wouldn’t dawn on them that somehow their friends’ parents would be treated differently. It doesn’t make sense to them, and frankly, that’s the kind of thing that prompts a change in perspective.”

What an open-minded individual! I'm sure he REALLY had a change of heart*. I'm sure it's not at all political. I'm sure he's found some new source of information saying something totally proving that gays should be married, because it's a factual thing. You can't have an opinion. You have to look at facts and stuff and that's what Obama does! Cuz he's a genius and also God!
*Change of heart- when Barack Obama changes his mind. Similar to 'flip-flopping,' only it's when Obama does it.
he never said he was against gay marriage.
racedogg2 you are an idiot.
I hope one day we look back on the debate on gay marriage the same way we look back on segregation of blacks (well most of us anyway). In retrospect it was an obvious wrong, and separate-but-equal is never equal. Saying gay's can have the same rights as marriage, but it must be called something different is the same to me as separate-but-equal. Obviously wrong and obviously not equal.
I knew it....Michelle is a guy.....explains it all LOL 🙂
Now, if he would just come out of the closet himself, we might be getting somewhere. Evolve a bit more, Barry.
I always knew the Pres was a little light in the feet!
I am sure his personal beliefs are as they always were, however he will say he supports it for the votes.
Wont get him many votes in NC
Obama did all that blathering then right at the point in the video where he was going to express support for marriage the video cuts off.. Geese I want my 5 minutes back,
ewewwwww
Obama is nothing bt an antichrist, just hiding under d shadow of christianity.................God is watching every body and judgement await all antichrist........
Crazy much?! LOL!
Re:"What??"... what bible are you reading? Nowhere in the new testament does it say about gay marrige being wrong. Chirst taught love and equality for all... the 'bible' you refer to is the old testament, which also supports slavery, eye for an eye – opposes forgiveness, and there is no salvation thru our known Christ. You know, the book which Jesus came to change the laws. It is to be studied in contrast to the new testament. Makes me wonder if -you- have read or understand the bible. PS... marriage has been going on since the celts, ancient egyptions, and all ancient societies have evidence o marriage. Ours is less then 2000 years old... Get educated before you sound off please...
Joe Biden...what can I say.
Now let's legalize incest for all!!! Just not for me, no thank you.
Well that's the great think about it you idiot, just because it's legal doesn't mean you have to do it.
So when Romney changes his stance he's a flip flopper, when Obama does it he's evolving.
Brilliant!
One evolves over time... one flip flops on a daily basis.
Guess which is which?
As a moderate that didn't vote for Obama this is a genius move. I agree with Obama on this and now I will have to endure the crazies coming after me on this while distracting the conversation from what Obama has done wrong. He probably just won the election with this decision as many of us middle moderates will move his direction to get away from the crazies.
