Gas prices down 18 cents since April, survey finds

.S. gasoline prices have dipped another 6 cents due to a continuing skid in crude oil, a new survey finds, with more declines seen on the horizon.

The average price of regular gasoline dropped to just over $3.78 per gallon over the past two weeks, according to the latest Lundberg Survey. That's down more than 12 cents from a year ago and more than 18 cents below its April 6 peak, survey publisher Trilby Lundberg told CNN.

"The cause is continued erosion of crude-oil prices," Lundberg said. With crude oil currently trading at about $91 a barrel, down 11% in a month, "We will see another 5-10 cents in the coming weeks," she said.

Lundberg's California-based company samples prices in about 2,500 filling stations across the continental United States. The latest, conducted Friday, found prices were still hight in the Western states - "but those prices are just trembling on a precipice," she said.

"We can see wholesale prices have been crashing here, and they are about to hit the street," she said.

@mary bus fare has doubled in the last decade. why do you think that happened? might it have something to do with the price of diesel?

That's not so bad @bobcat(iah). I drove today to reconnect with old friends in my hometown in Alpine,NJ. After paying $12.OO to cross the GW Bridge and $5.50 in tolls on the NJ Turnpike. I gassed up in Alpine for 3.57 gal and hey they pumped my gas for me. Still a dime per gallon cheaper than Az.

Of course thats because the supermarket i shop at has a point card. And if you gas up at their gas station (krogers) for every l00 pts you have on your card you get .l0 of per gal. At the time it was 3.73 and i had 800 pts! .80 off a gal!

@bobcat(iah) let me dive into the memory banks, would that be Texaco. Nah, I went to a Hess Station and the kid that pumped my gas told me it was a state law. Since I am borrowing my uncles car, I told him not to get under the hood and check the oil. He did clean the windshield though!

Our is still holding steady at about 3.79/gallon.
Of course, my hubs fills the tank, so....he has all of those rewards cards, so I don't actually know what he's paying.
And that's just ducky by me!

Maybe we should get those republicans back in so we can get that $2.00 gal. gas they promised. You know, just like all the jobs they promised two years ago.
