Pakistani Taliban vows to kill bin Laden doctor

The Pakistani Taliban vowed on Thursday to kill Shakeel Afridi, the jailed Pakistani doctor accused of helping the CIA in the search for Osama bin Laden, a spokesman for the militant group told CNN.

"We will cut him into pieces when we find him," Pakistani Taliban spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan told CNN by phone. "He spied for the U.S. to hunt down our hero Osama bin Laden."

Pakistani officials say Afridi is being held in a prison in the city of Peshawar in northwest Pakistan.

This reaction from Taliban was always expected.
Although OBL's death did not, thankfully generate the firestorm that was feared against Pakistan from Talibans.

This man helped bring down the worlds most wanted man and the Obama admin is doing absolutely nothing to help him. Just disgusting...

There is no outrage from muslims in Pakistan. The muslims in Pakistan are only sympathetic to Taliban's cause. The whole Pakistani population is pro-Taliban and pro-Islamic agenda.

@saywhat - You are right. What else would you expect from these Islamic Pakistanis? Pakistani people always protest against everything America does - Pakistanis are always out on the streets burning the US flag and shouting "death to America". But the people of Pakistan wouldn't say a word against their beloved Taliban murderers.

If Pakistan fails to protect this doctor AND his family, the US needs top cut off ALL aid to Pakistan. They do just enough to please Congress and the oval office so they can get our money. But their heart is not in the game to make the necessary changes to end terroristic cells that call Pakistan home. All US citizens should realize that travelling to Pakistan is at your own risk.

This Pakistani doctor stuck his neck out for America and should be brought here with his family. He wasn't properly told of the collateral damages to he or his loved ones from his allience with these American operatives who were searching years for this leader of terrorists worldwide.Stand up America and welcome this hero, even if he's not from here,he's done more than the collective works of all the intelligence operitives working under Bush for years,he was definitly more productive and is less costly to employ too!!Give him a job here,he's proved his worth!!

I am surprised we didn't try to whisk he and his family out of the country and bring him here in the first place.

We poisoned the well by not dealing honestly with this doctor in the first place.
He did not know the truth of what was going on. He now hates the U.S. for his untenable position.
These Taliban idiots are just scared and making threats without a clue as to the realities of their position.
They know we will hunt down and kill every last one of them if we can. There aren't many of them left.

Shakeel Afridi being jailed by Pakistan, says a lot about Pakistans' true position with the Taliban. It simply shows that the plans to subdue bin-Laden was an American problem from the get go, rather than a concerted effort of Pakistan and America. So is it so, he was jailed for j-walking?
This situation just reinforces the fact Pakistan "is" a government driven by terrorism. Afridi perhaps wasn't offered asylym, for another act he possibly comitted before or during the time of protective custody with the U.S.. Perhaps we'll never know for sure.

Where are the US Navy Seals? What is the US Congress doing? Why don't we get this doc out? It seems that Pakistan is controlling the agenda. If that is the case and Pakistan is the new regional leader then lets accept it give it the recognition it deserves and bring it into our fold.

I don't get it why our State Dept can't convince Pakistan to come along with it. Either they are incompetent or Pakistan has a point. We need to move on and give Pakistan its due and not poor boy it. After all they have sacrificed the most in terms of hundreds of thousands of lives lost and trillions in financial losses in fighting this terror war for the neighbors and the world.

Pakistani do not deserve one cent or anybody's respect or sympathy anymore. They are terrorists. They hide bin Laden, behead Red Cross workers, and kidnap American aid workers like Weinstein. We need to cut off their aid and straighten them out first.

@Dennis Bowen - Pakistan does have a point - Pakistanis are making it very clear that they are on the side of the terrorists, and not on the side of US/NATO.

Pakistan would of course look out for its own national interests. Its they who have to live with Talibans and its neighbor Afghanistan one we leave, not us.
Just like we left them in a lurch once USSR was defeated and kicked out.

Pakistanis have been in bed with Al Qaeda all along. They never were our ally - they were hiding the Al Qaeda's chief.

@saywhat - Pakistan acts only in the interest of the terrorists. They will kill this doctor just because the doctor was watching out for the US interests as well.

I for the life of me can't figure out why can't we convince Pakistan after 64 years of being allies. They are the ones who stood shoulder to shoulder with us in successfully fighting the cold war, pioneering the relationship with China and assisting us in establishing a relationship with China, fighting the war on terror and on and on. SO what gives? They can't be all that bad after. So we need to come clean with Pakistan and give them their due.

They were pretending to fight on our side while hiding bin Laden in Pakistan. They can't be trusted. Pakistanis have always been back stabbing us all these years.

For the life of me I can't comprehend also why our State Dept can't bring Pakistan over. We have been allies for over 64 years and fought shoulder to shoulder fighting the cold war, war on terror, facilitating relations with China and on and on. What gives?

What muddies the water further is what are our new allies in the region doing for us? The likes of India with its couple of million deep army in bunker accomodations. If Pakistan has become so powerful that nobody can effect its outlook, then lets give it the new military power in the region credentials and start working with it rather than against it. After all, they have given the ultimate sacrifice of lives lost (200,000+). They can't be all that bad. Who else has done so much for us. Name one !!!

My sense is that it is election year and Indians are giving a lot of political contributions to Democratic party. We will see a sea change for the good after the US elections and change in administration. I don't believe Panetta and Hillary have the country's best interest in mind. All their moves are centered towards making Obama look good for the elections. So they have no incentive to play ball.

@Janet - So, Pakistan has been cheating and lying for 64 years? That is absolutely disgusting. We give them all this aid – billion after billion, and they hide the terrorist. Pakistanis have never been on our side.

The United States Navy Seal Team 6 was sent in to get a dirty job done, whether they wanted to or not. It was a covert operation that none of us knew about. The seals acted in good faith, on a tip none the less. So your precious doctor may have been someone that killed an American or something equally bad. So not knowing just what this dude did, you want to instantly make him a U.S. citizen? Why do something you might regret later.
Hilliary! Go get the Hummer ready. You're going to Pakistan to spring someone. Make sure you got plenty of logging chains, AK47's, and C4. Oh yeah....make sure bring a couple white towels, vaseline and charcoal.

You have some reasonable thoughts there.
What we do not realize is that it was only with Pakistan on board that we were able even to enter Afghanistan. They have lost 30,000 plus civilians and 3000 plus soldiers and counting fighting on our side. The aid that we are so fond of crying about citing billions has been negligible.
The Kerry-Luger bill passed by congress I think in 2009 which promised aid to them has been nothing. They hardly got 300 million out of 'billions' pledged.

@saywhat Even Iran could be trusted more than Pakistan. Pakistanis take money and then help the terrorists. Giving money to even a country like Iran may produce better results than wasting it on these Pakistani people.

The Indians, being the only true americans native to this land, had thier land undermined by all that are not of Indian desent. Therefore they have special dibs to set up and operate "legalized gambling casinos", to "take back" everything financialy. Couple that with the leftist labor unions, and kickbacks from shoddy bankrupt "green" businesses set up from slush money.
Obamas' ads are real slick. can't buy votes. Ha ha!

@Jeff Frank,it was Jack Abramoff and Grover Norcrist that truely screwed the Indians, getting monies for lobbying on behalf of the Indians for getting casino rights on tribal land and them giving contributions with that same money to the campaigns of Bob Ney,repub and also Tom Delay, repub. They all spent time at the graybar motel, federal style, more crooked republican crap that republicans fail to remember, right Frank!!!Hey,how bout McCain and the Keating 5,remember how he and Cindy turned on their buds with their turning state evidence and costing us tax payers 3.5 billion in that S&L scam in the 80's.Facts being known, you republicans are usually on the wrong side, but that's natural, ask Bush and how he stole the election with his brother Jebs' help, blood is thicker than water isn't it,even with snakes!!!
