18 rescued in child pornography raids, feds say

Eighteen victims of child pornography were rescued during a nationwide sweep by federal law enforcement agencies, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced Friday.

The sweep, dubbed Operation Orion, resulted in the arrests of 190 individuals, most of which were in the U.S. but included arrests in Argentina, the Philippines, Spain and the United Kingdom, ICE said in a press release. The operation took place from May 1 to May 31.

"Let this operation be a warning to anyone who would think they can use the Internet to exploit children: we are out there looking for you, we will find you, and you will be prosecuted," ICE Director John Morton said in a statement.

Morton said as children begin summer vacations, parents should pay extra attention to how much time they spend on the Internet.

"Many of the child exploitation cases under Operation Orion began with a child or teen chatting with someone he or she met online," Morton said in the statement.

I wonder how many of the arrested are current or previous elected officials?

Just go to any home of any Catholic priest, bishop or the vatican. Guaranteed to find abused children.

Some Rabbis also do this kind of stuff. Don't place the blame on only one religion.

Oh, this monster comes from all walks of life. And from every faith and denomination. Yet the Catholic church does acknowledge it, albeit slowly. Protestant faiths? They disavow any affiliation with that pastor/church.

Let's take your line of logic one step further. Open the home of any person and see what skeletons drop out of the closet.

Don't paint the world with the broad brush of ignorance.

This is one of the reasons I am no longer a Catholic. I still have a strong faith but the last thing I need is a pervert child molester priest giving me advice on marriage and children when the only experience they have with any of it is their sick little pedo actions.

wish people were as upset with the catholic church. 10's of thousands of children abused world wide. The worst crimes were the cover ups, denying the abused child, by the pope and bishops. If this were a national day care center, the pope and bishops would be in jails today, where they belong. Instead the catholic lawmakers stop laws that would expose their crimes.

I'll never understand why most child molesters are prosecuted, yet catholic priests who are tagged with the same crimes are simply relocated to another parish.

Mike, this is what's wrong with the church. The church wants to police itself, but is corrupt and decadent and lacks the will to police itself effectively. If you go back a couple of centuries, the church policing itself consisted of imprisoning, torturing and executing (with love and God's blessing of course) those who expressed dissent or disagreement. Hell, the Franciscan order was almost wiped out to a man because they dared to preach humility instead of sucking down that fat protection money the rest of the church lived on. Now THAT'S the kind of self-correcting the church needs today– the imprisonment, torture, and loving execution of any priest who abuses any member of their flock in any way.
But, since the church lacks the will to really clean house, I guess it's up to mundane authorities to take care of it for them.

Don't worry. The one thing you don't want to be in prison is a molester. They get what they deserve in there. Too bad they eventually get out.

KJD...the great US was doing the torturing under Bush and everyone thought it is o.k. because somehow, furthering the US cause is more noble than following the Geneva Convention. Bush and his neo-cons are war criminals. The ends do not justify the means. The same is with all of you advocating the death penalty for these perps. I can admit that a parent taking some vigilante justice out on these sickos doesn't bother me. The death penalty is state supported murder, plain and simple.
