Syrian National Council elects Kurdish activist as new leader

Fifteen months into the Syrian crisis and with no end in sight, a prominent opposition body has elected Kurdish activist Abdul Baset Sieda as its new president in what could reinvigorate a political arm of the uprising.

Dozens of countries have recognized the SNC as a legitimate representative of the Syrian opposition, though many members of the group's leadership are expatriates.

But Syrian President Bashar al-Assad - who has received global disdain for lethally cracking down on dissidents seeking his ouster - has said he will not deal with opposition members influenced from the outside.

Meanwhile, renewed attacks on the anti-government bastion of Homs killed at least three people on Sunday, including citizen journalist Khaled Bakr, opposition activists said.

According to the LCC, random shelling tormented the Homs neighborhood of Talbiseh early Sunday, pausing every four minutes only to continue with artillery and mortars.

🙂 Good to see you Superman! The wars are brought to you by the Economic Hit-men in reality. And as a result, yes, the drug production has gone up in Afghanistan for example. We as Americans being the biggest consumer of drugs and SS being no more; true. War pigs? k, I'll look it up.
And yourself and Philip as I see it have a lot more in common that both of you know. @ me, you get that. 😉 (hug)

Your guess is as good as mine on that one. However those who want the regime toppled ( not necessarily all Syrians unlike Egyptians) are the usual suspects. Remember this regime is aligned with Russia, Iran and with China on board now.
My weekend goes well @ chrissy thanks.

Egypt had a puppet leader installed unlike Syria, who has yet, to be placed. The same game (The Economic Man handbook)gets played out as each ME country falls like dominos; one right after another.

Syria is 'instant replay' of Iraq, where the US armed Iraqi Kurds who agreed to put-on a rebellion with full support of US. Notice the Kurds were slaughtered...abandoned by those who had promised to help: The US government.
When US major media reported on this, the news reports were all-about the Iraqi government killing rebellious Kurds, with no mention of who armed them. (the same folks that armed the madman saddam Hussein: US and Israel. source: The Teicher Affidavit, sworn testimony from high ranking US gov. official giving dates, times, weapons (even cluster bombs), sources of weapons, etc.
You will never see TV talking heads discussing this at all, let alone at great length as they do lesser matters.
This very thing has happened to 130 of the worlds 194 countries, militarily and/or financially. (source: read "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" or Youtube it.)

@ Superman, Funny that the album is ti tled "Paranoid" coming out in 1970. Yes "War Pigs" has much truth running through it as far as I see. Much has come out of WW2 (and before that era even). I would C/P the song here but googling the lyrics is just as easy if anyone cares to see.

Great to see that the propoganda machine keeps churning.
And yes, I •am• sorry for the innocent people of Syria, and my condolences to the families of those needlessly killed to suit someone else's stupid agenda.
