Uniformed Afghans attack NATO troops, killing 1, officials say

[Updated at 5:19 p.m. ET] Attackers in Afghan police uniforms gunned down a member of NATO's peacekeeping force in southern Afghanistan on Monday, the allied command in Kabul reported.

The International Security Assistance Force said the three gunmen "immediately fled the area and are currently being sought."

No other details were released by NATO, but a U.S. official in Washington told CNN the fatality was an American and that as many as eight or nine others were wounded.

Uniformed Afghans - either insurgents in disguise, or members of the country's police or military - have been behind numerous killings of U.S. and NATO troops this year. The incidents have fueled mutual distrust between Afghan and NATO forces in the now-decade-old conflict.

At least one of the seven people that were killed over there this week were worth of a headline.

Don't worry, Shmeckell, it will be replaced soon by a headline saying they killed the #2 man in Al Qaeda for the 53rd time.

The UN Peacekeepers are not allowed to carry weapons. Who in the hell is in his right mind will go to a war zone without a weapon to protect themselves, I won't. They are just a good target.

  9. Dear Kenyan Leader

How come they call them NATO peacekeepers when they are there to kill the local population so that Israel can expand and the US can steal the natural resources?

  11. Dear Former Eurotrash Leader

How come they have to have NATO peacekeepers in the first place, when the invasion of Afghanistan was completely bogus and done only for your company's benefit?

      I agree.

But, to me, the real story is that CNN's headline says nothing about an American, instead it says Nato.
Seems like CNN never stops running cover for Dear Leader.

The way I see it we have but two options in Afghanistan. If we truly want 'victory', which in America has always meant unconditional surrender,we need to send an invasion force in, totally anhilate the opposition and instill an American government for at least twenty years. If we don't have the stomach for that, and I know I certainly don't, we need to totally evacuate, and not in 2014, but this weekend.

Have you ever seen that country? There is nothing to go destroy. You can drop all the bombs on that place you want and you will will do is stir up dust and dirt.
