Insurgents breach U.S. military outpost in southern Afghanistan, U.S. officials say

A small U.S. military outpost in southern Afghanistan was breached by insurgents early Tuesday, according to two U.S. officials.

Both officials said initial details are sketchy, but military reports indicate that at least eight insurgents somehow got inside the security perimeter at Forward Operating Base Frontenac. Neither official had information on how the breach occurred.

Fear of China & Russia consolidating their positions in the M.East and S.Asia would not let us leave Afghanistan. We have already announced that we will increase our military presence in Kuwait if we withdraw some troops from this theater..
Wars are not going to end.
    troops are not coming home.

That is because the military industrial complex controls our nation not or democratically elected officials.

I care.. You should too. Hopefully, this is an isolated event; but any time an outpost is physically breached, that means American lives are put in imminent danger (even moreso than what is associated with the normalities of war)- ever heard of suicide bombers?

The only good part of your statement is that it shows that cowards like you get to speak and express your thoughts (despite how little you think) freely due to the acts and sacrifices of folks far greater than you. You don't have to care because people better than you made that the law of the land.

Of course you don't care, especially when you're safe and snug in your mothers basement playing video games while the REAL men are out on the wire fighting for the interests of not only the United States, but for the interests of self-serving rich kids (the same ones who complain that only blue-collar types join the military because they supposedly have no other option, then don't join themselves) who would rather go to college than earn the freedoms given to them (even if temporarily) like those servicemembers that you don't care about do.

I served four tours over there (voluntarily, with no regrets), and the American public just doesn't get it, no matter how much we try to explain WHY (sure Iraq was a unforgivable sham, but there IS a legitimate need for us to be in Afghanistan). Whether it's willfull ignorance or not, the Neo-cons are just as guilty as the Progressives. To 99% of most Americans, the war ends for them when they turn-off their TV sets.

Only two ways that can happen. Overrun in an assault or an inside job. I am betting inside job. Had both situations happen to me in Vietnam.

Actually, one of the methods used over there to do this is VBIED. The pack a vehicle with enough explosives to blow a hole in the HESCO barriers surrounding the base, and then rush in. This is not the first such incident. The important thing is, breaching is not the same as over-running, and they have never come close to seizing a US base.

How about we bring back the troops and have them fight wildland fires here on our own soil where we actually need them.

Technically Afghanistan is their country. So it was actually the US base that was breaching Afghanistan, and the insurgents simply eliminated the breach.
