Adopted son says Jerry Sandusky molested him

Matt Sandusky, one of Jerry Sandusky's adopted children, has said that he was molested by the former Penn State defensive coordinator, according to a statement from his lawyers.

The allegation comes as Sandusky is awaiting the verdict in his child rape trial. Matt Sandusky, who has defended his father as he faced child rape charges, said through his attorneys Andrew Shubin and Justine Andronici that he met with prosecutors this week to tell them he was a victim for the first time.

"During the trial, Matt Sandusky contacted us and requested our advice and assistance in arranging a meeting with prosecutors to disclose for the first time in this case that he is a victim of Jerry Sandusky’s abuse," Matt Sandusky's lawyers said in a statement obtained by InSession. "At Matt’s request, we immediately arranged a meeting between him and the prosecutors and investigators."

No further details were released about the circumstances surrounding the alleged molestation or when Matt Sandusky claims the abuse occurred.

"This has been an extremely painful experience for Matt and he has asked us to convey his request that the media respect his privacy," a statement from Matt Sandusky's lawyer said. "There will be no further comment at this time."

Sandusky is currently facing accusations of sexual abuse from 10 alleged victims. Sandusky, 68, has pleaded not guilty to charges of child sex abuse over a 15-year period. He faces 48 counts in the trial.

Sandusky defense: A 'smoking gun' and David fighting Goliath

'The Sandusky 8' describe seduction, molestation and betrayal

During closing arguments, defense attorney Joe Amendola sought to poke holes in the prosecution's case, pointing to inconsistencies with the testimony of Mike McQueary, a former graduate student and assistant coach who said he saw Sandusky apparently sodomizing a boy in a university shower.

He also reminded jurors of the lack of physical evidence and accused the alleged victims of conspiring for financial gain while blaming the media for what he described as biased coverage.

Lead prosecutor Joseph McGettigan followed Amendola, rebuffing the defense's account of a coordinated action among Sandusky's accusers allegedly bent on financial gain.

"The great thing about conspiracy theories is you just let them go on and on, until they collapse under their own weight," he said.

McGettigan described the former coach as a pedophile who systematically preyed on his victims with a calculated and repeated approach.

"The Commonwealth has overwhelming evidence against Mr. Sandusky," he said.

John the fisherman. What do you like to molest? Hopefully it is reptilian (being you are a fisherman) or an inanimate object rather than a human being? Please tell us that is the case.

My guess is he did not want to be the deciding factor to bring his dad down. I cant imagine what he went through deciding to talk but maybe these boys that came forward will have a sense of knowing that they have more support justifying their claims. I guess Mrs. S truly was ignorant to what was happening in her own home, or sick too!

Yeah, what nonsense. You don't kick a dog and then ask the dog not to bite you. These people contacted the press, stirred a fire and then ask to be left alone. I'm guessing the ungrateful little creep just wants to make sure he can get in on any civil action that is SURE to be coming. Hell, maybe *I* should get in on the action. Frankly, anyone that was anywhere near Sandusky over the last 20 years will be looking to get on the gravy train, even if they were never alone with the guy.

Trust me, he's not molesting his wife. Just ask Syracuse's Fine's wife. She wasn't getting any from her molesting husband, so she had to go get one of her own young stuff. Hell, they both played with the same poor lad.

Here's an interesting thought. If the jury isn't sequestered, they will hear of this and that could taint the jury and possibly lead to a mistrial, yes? Could this be a ploy from the Sandusky family to save dear old Dad? It's just a theory and I hope that I am dead wrong.......

I hope you're wrong, too. They are sequesterd so I don't know how it would be revealed to the jury unless someone leaks the information out to them. Let's pray the victim's get the justice they deserve. Sandusky is a sick, sick man.

The jury IS sequestered. No TV, radio, magazines, newspapers, or Internet until they reach a decision.

This is such a sad situation. I guess Matt Sandusky waited, thinking his adopted father would get what was comming to him. However, when it seemed possible that his father might get away with it. He finally cofessed. How horrible for all of the victim's of a man that was supposed to be a mentor and role model. I hope Sandusky burn's in Hades for what he did to the lives of his victim's. This however leaves me to wonder...is there more?

I truly believe the victims, not because they are seeking monies but trying to eleviate the demon(s) from their system and receive justice. Now that Matt Sandusky has admitted he was molested by his adopted father Jerry Sandusky. It's time for Jerry to pay his dues. This is just devastating and unbelievable and his wife has NO idea of what he WAS and what he WAs doing with these little boys. ( How naive) This is a very SICK individual and Penn State can't take cover for Sandusky anymore. I'm so very elated Matt Sandusky came forward through all the embrassment. It took courage.
