Federal agents seek help in identifying endangered teen

Federal agents in Minnesota are trying to solve a mystery in hopes of helping some children in a dangerous situation. Agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations are asking for the public's help in identifying a boy they believe to be in his teens seen in a Web-based video.

Asking for help in this way is unusual according to ICE spokesperson Shawn Neudauer.

“Issuing a public plea is an extraordinary step by ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations warranted by our belief that there may be young people at risk, without the ability to ask for law enforcement’s help," he said.

The child is thought to be between 13 and 19 and possibly has been in either Minnesota or western Wisconsin in the past 18 to 24 months. Agents think that by identifying the teen they will be able to help at least one other child out of a dangerous situation and possibly more.

People with information can contact ICE/HSI on their tip line at 866-347-2423 or on-line at http://www.ice.gov/tips/

There appears to be much about this kid and his companions that is left to the imagination of the reader. I wish they'd provided the full story.

Clearly a law is being broken and this child and either one more child or more are in harm's way. The detectives/investigators who are trying to locate this child can't divulge every detail because the perpetrators of the crime being committed could flee or kill these young poeple. Sometimes, releasing too much information to the public can backfire on an investgation. This should be shown on all channels of media until the child is found.

this is a funny comment considering they plastered his image all over the net.

No i will tell you what is happening, the federal agents are probably breaking the law to find this kid, which could be a good computer hacker who just owned their system?

I would not be surprised at all if this ended up being true. (the feds are defineately hiding something)

      No, Ana is right.
If investigators received some limited information from someone that witnessed a possible crime, and then released details about what that crime was, it might become obvious to the criminals (kidnappers? traffickers?) who it was that "snitched." That could get both the informant and the victim killed.

He is not in any danger. The stills are from a video where he gets naked waist down and is doing stuff to his younger sis (approx 4yrs). She isn't exactly putting up a struggle either. Several things happen in the 14 min vid then at the end I think someone comes homes coz he jumps up and gets dressed. The Feds deliberately word it to make it sound like he is in danger hoping that more people might ID him. Apparently he's 15. The actual child the Feds are saying is in danger is his sis.

It's just sad that a child like that is put in this kind of situation. He should be dating, playing football and hanging out; not in this mess.

I agree Paul. It's obviously something bad enough for ICE to put is photo all over the internet to find him. I hope he's okay.

"It's just sad that a child like that is put in this kind of situation..."

And what situation would that be? There are no details...only speculation.

    What is an investigation today?
With Homeland Security monitoring darn near everyones movements and public/privte conversations one vould say they are investigating darn near everyone.

All but one individual seem to be on the same page. It's understandable that in some cases giving too much information to the public in articles & news may do more damage than good. However, how would this article be of any use in helping this boy? How would people know what to look for, possible places to locate him or even be remembered by anyone in trying to help search for him when there are absolutely no details or information of any kind that's needed to some degree in finding him??? Let's be logical!! If just 1 or 2 facts were said as to why he's simply being searched would increase his chances of recovery 10x's over!!! How is this waste of space used other than his picture helping him, or anyone involved for that matter?? This is just ridiculous in my eyes. If you want to help or get help from the public than help us help you!! Provide something for this poor child!!

He looks like a relative to the Canadian killer they just recently taken into custody.

They issued to request for the public's help because they believe that identifying who this boy is will lead to providing law enforcement services that are needed, based on what the video was of.

Everyone here seems to speculate he is a victim or may be in trouble. Working in government the first thing I thought of was he probably stole a government laptop or smartpad device, he got illegally, or he found it. If the device has a webcam there are security features now that will take a snapshop of the unsuspecting thief as soon as he/she powers it up. ICE is probably looking for a missing laptop with classified or secret information.

how about you dont worry about ANYTHING ELSE but the image of the child. like sassafrass stated, if ICE is doing this, it is important. dont question why, just look and see if you recognize him. if you do, call your local authorities, if not, dont be so negative and move on. we are talking about the safety of this child or children. the childs image and ICE's request should be enough for us to act on it.

This could be a situation where he is the one harming another child or being harmed himself. I don't know, there is a lot to be left to the imagination and obviously they don't want to hinder an investigation. I live in western Wisconsin and will paint this picture in my head in case I see the boy.

I shared the boys image on Facebook. Hope he's found safe and sound and soon.

Sounds like he was molesting a child on video and they're trying to stop it from happening to future children.

The top of this page refers to him as an "endangered teen." Why are you picking on a child that is in horrible danger??
