Greece to swear in new government Thursday

Greece, which has gone without an elected government for 224 days, will swear in a new one Thursday. It will consist of a coalition of three parties - the center-right New Democracy, which placed first in Sunday's vote, Pasok and the Democratic Party of the Left.

The party with the second highest number of votes, the leftist Syriza, which is against austerity measures, has declined to be a part of the government.

New Democracy leader Antonis Samaras was sworn in Wednesday as Greece's new prime minister at the presidential mansion after meeting with President Karolos Papoulias, who asked him to form a government.

Greece should be annexed by some country with a more intelligent system of government...but then the EU needs to stop beating around the bush and become a real union with a common const8tution, common law, and common central bank anyway. But just try getting anyone to do the right thing when the wrong thing pays so much better...

All the problems of Greece could be cured if only the rich were compelled to pay their fair share. It has nothing to do with unionized socialist government bureaucrats making lavish pensions with early retirement.

I just dont get it.... how could such an intelligent people be so clueless? They expect Germany( who by the way has majority union workforce and socialized medicine and somehow does very well) to pay for their lavishness.... I am not aware of any industry in greece....what do they produce??? tourism? feta cheese??? seriously. Ps they have a bad reputation for cruise ship s being captain and crew abandons women and children at sea while ship sinks on several occasions... maybe because they are anti semetic and cursed like most of evil europe..

Greece should sell islands. Selling a few would alleviate their money predicament. The United States could purchase one with a nice deep water port and establish a base there, like Guantanamo, for incursions into Al Qaeda infested north africa.

The European Union was destined for failure upon conception. A union of lazy meditteraneans and industrious north europeans could never function. Those with a work ethic and brain power have carried the dead weight of the incorrigibility of the lazy for too long. Nationalism will help europe in the long term. The Germanic tribes will re unite and dominate the others, if they return to genetic consciousness.
