Middle schoolers bully bus monitor, 68, with stream of profanity, jeers

A profanity-laced video of middle school students verbally abusing a New York bus monitor is sparking an outpouring of support  as strangers worldwide rally to her side.

In the video, the students taunt Karen Klein, 68, with a stream of profanity, insults, jeers and physical ridicule.

Some boys demand to know her address, saying they want to come to her house to perform sexual acts and steal from her.

The bullying continues unabated for about 10 minutes in the video, reducing Klein to tears as a giggling student jabs her arm with a book in one instance.

"Oh my God, you're so fat," one says.

Klein, a bus monitor for the Greece Central School District, said she tried her best to disregard the harassment.  The students involved attend Greece Athena middle school.

Ohhhhhh noooooo, don't spank your children when they misbehave!! Give them a time out, tell them they're special and promise them a treat if they straighten up. We wouldn't want to damage our kids by punishing them...... R I G H T.

Has anyone checked out the woman's story?
If she can't keep things in perspective she has no business doing that sort of job in the first place!
Who the hell hired this woman? She's over 65! Why is she given a job she can't handle when there are hundreds of well-abled younger workers a million times more qualified than her ready to take her place.
    I smell a rat.

hiring the elderly brings tax incentives to the employers...can only work part-time so employers pay no benefits...it is illegal to engage age-based discrimmination...lastly uncharitable scoundrels like you who eliminate every safety net and family assistance program so it's either take the bus ride or eat canned dogfood...

Checked out the woman's story. Kids posted the video to youtube. It is apalling. Watch for yourself. They poke her..
Pull at her. Give her the finger. The language is foul and probably was bleeped out in the news reports.

This story sounds like one of Foxx's news filler stories. "World wide" outpouring of ......pleeze. On the surface, it appears the woman was ill qualified as a "bully monitor" ( whatever that is? ). couldn't "or wouldn't build a rapport with those in her "care" and of most importance was given no no authority along with her responsibilities. I mean the kids who "bullied"
her knew they were being video taped and yet went ahead with their aberrant behavior regardless. So that by itself says they really disliked, disrespected her and knew there would
be no consequences for their actions!

@rascal. So far, you are the only one to use the term "elderly". So what's that about? And verbally beating up on adults by middle school students isn't accepted behavior. But those evil mouthed monsters would have kept their lips shut if they felt they would be punished. Obviously that wasn't the case here!

@port i would call that an poor excuse for a recant...fact the women is elderly and was abused...and you made a determination that a 23 year veteran employee was ill-qualified...and what kind werds of criticisms didjew give the juvie perps...none, nothing, nada...except excuses!

The poor woman was a bus monitor.
    Not a bully momitor.
Anyone ever think that this woman HAS to work due to the economic downturn that has made MANY seniors work, die to pension reductions or
downright doing away with their pensions alltogether?
I see many more seniors having to work....my mother's
AND the pension my mother used to get from my father were both discontinued due to rotten business practice by the shill companies that bought the companies.
And no, Portland tony, many kids don't know that a) there are cameras on the bus, or b) just don't care.
Freaking ill-raised whelps that think it's funny to pick on an elderly lady.
It's not just other kids who are bullied.
    Shame on them!

Kids have become protected by the law that this crap happens everyday and no one can do anything about it. I cannot wait until the day a teacher snaps, says screw the law, and makes one of these kids pay dearly. Just because they're young people does not give them the right to do anything they want. This kind of crap should be met with punishment that will make every little kid out there think twice before acting like a complete d-bag.

Trashy kids from trashy homes acting just like their parents probably do! Nowadays way too much fixation on kids...nearly child worship! No boundaries set at home and parents who are kids themselves...what's to expect!

Isn't it this lady's job to protect the other children on the bus from bully's. If she can't protect herself how can she protect the other kids on the bus. Don't give money to someone for doing the wrong thing. If she can't act like an authority figure then she should quit. Just another incompetent government employee who probably has a better retirement than I do. I should send her a bill for wasting my tax dollars.

A lot of comments, mine included, have either bashed this lady or the disrespectful kids. But will someone please explain why this poor woman was on this bus in the first place?

@Tony, if you haven't experienced first hand, let me share with you: I have four kids and drive them to school. Buses transcend barbarism. It's a "Lord of the Flies" free for all with zero discipline. The melting pot has completely failed.

"If nothing is true. Then everything is permitted" Karen Klein was not a human being to those rambuncious human beings. Nothing in this life is alive to them( meaning nothing in this life has feelings ,emotions, pain, joy, blood sweat, tears) SOooo.. everything is permitted...... They themselves have not experienced warmth, loving kindness .I pray every day to find the TRUTH in my daily life.
