Zimmerman released from jail

George Zimmerman - a Florida man charged with murder in the February shooting death of teenager Trayvon Martin - was released from jail on Friday, a day after a judge set a new bail amount.

A Florida judge on Thursday set a $1 million bail with new restrictions on Zimmerman (pictured), saying he believes the suspect may have been planning to flee the country to avoid prosecution in the killing of Martin.

Zimmerman's previous bail - $150,000 - was revoked last month after the judge learned Zimmerman and his wife had failed to disclose more than $150,000 in donations from the public.

Leading up to the judge's decision Thursday, Zimmerman attorney Mark O'Mara asked the judge to set the same $150,000 bail amount that he granted in April. Prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda countered that Zimmerman should remain in jail without bail because he was complicit in lying to the court and can't be trusted.

I'm not going to comment on this guy's guilt or innocence. I wasn't there and I don't know what happened. What I will say is they proved him to be a liar and the judge said he hid a passport. To me, that says a lot about his character.

Thank you Sacmar! That's exactly how I feel as well. It's good to know someone else out there isn't aggressively one side or the other.

The problem is coming up with the 1 mil colateral that a bail bondsman will accept to let them just pay the 10%. If he flees, someone is responsible for 1 mil. That's a bigger issue, not the upfront 100K.

Its sad that a person who admitedly shot and killed an unarmed child is free, regardless of what the kid did in his pass. Zimmerman had no right to pull the trigger, now a mother and a father both lost a child and the reason for that tragedy is walking around because he was able to post bail...its soo sad how this countries judicial system works...hate for that to happen to his child if he were to ever have one, no child deserved that no matter if he was "a punk kid"

      A 6-foot tall 160-plus pound 17-year-old "child"?

Sure. Trayvon was as old - and taller and heavier - than many soldiers I served with. Too bad Trayvon chose to be a thug and forced someone to use deadly force in self-defense instead of doing something useful with his life.

let the courts and investigators do their jobs, it is sad that Trevon was shot and killed but Zimmerman is innocent until the courts prove him to be guilty. This case was blown way out of proportion by everyone and epecially the media. Zimmerman was guilty before he had any chance to prove himself other wise. Crappy for everybody all the way around.
    This isn't justice for anybody.

Is he a "white" or a "spanish" guy? If someone is half black, they say they are Black usually.

Hey Sarah - we're not talking about his dad, we're talking about HIM. Nearly all Mexicans have white ancestors, in addition to native ancestors (just like Zimmerman) - I don't see the media rushing to classify them as white, do you?

No, he won't. He lost his credibility, more than once. The jury will decide Travon attacked Zimmerman in self defense/stand your ground, because Travon had the right to kill Zimmerman but didn't have a gun.

Flee the country? This day and age you can't even flee the terminal.

They just want to drain his funds and force him into a plea. The case is thin and the local government fears looking weak on this case.

BINGO!!! Also add that they want to appease the Black people in fear or more riots. They call this Justice. If he is found NOT guilty which i believe he is, Watch the Blacks start.with the rioting and killing people.

Bullseye. They want to drag this out as long as possible in the hope that Zimmerman will plead to something and give them a conviction to wave at the race-baiters and thugs.

How come nobody ever talks about the real issue in this case...how f'ed up are Florida's gated communities to need a neighborhood watch team? A chain linked fence around the block doesn't count as gated.

My inlaws lived in a gated community and I visited them a dozen times, never once seeing the gate closed or needing the password to get in. They aren't safe unless you use the gate.

Yeah, built a ten foot high wall, with a moat filled with 'gators, a drawbridge and a watch tower. Then seal it up and let them all live as one happy family.

What a double standard this clown is a liar, God knows all and sees all and he will get what's coming to him. If the shoe was on the other foot there is no way that Travon would be given all that he has been given. gz's lwife is a liar his dad is a liar his mom is a liar I know his dad being a judge has called in all the favors that he gave out while on the bench. All the shady people he knows. I hope he does just what he was going to do before they found out he lied and that was take the money and run and leave all of you people believing he's not guilty.

      msjt1952-

careful, if god knows all and sees all he might see you passing judgment. I'm no expert but i'm pretty sure God is not fond of that according to some religions. You sure have a lot of knowledge of who is telling the truth considering all you are a witness to is the media hyping this case to the extreme.
