Prior to 1994, if you used drugs known to make people fat on your cattle to make them fatter and/or give more milk, you went to jail.
Now, almost all meat and dairy ranchers and corporations drug the cattle we eat and the cows of whose milk we drink.
And, isn't it odd that humans are the only animals that consume the milk of another animal as a regular part of their diet? Perhaps it has something to do with cows milk taking more calories to digest than the calories found in the milk itself? Notice other animals are not obesity epidemic. Learn from the monkey. 🙂

To mention that young female children are budding breasts earlier and earlier should also tell us something.

Labeling-should be made manditory, let the public decide if they want that substance in their bodies. Not guess what is healthy.

Plastics are a major concern of mine. I decided to rid my home of all plastic containers and plastic bags. Considering that plastics are petroleum based, small move on my part, to not support this industry in a way that makes sense and is do able.

@dazzle. Pharmaceuticals are also petroleum based. Rid our homes?
(at least until they are based on stem cells?)

Those aren't "side effects" Big Pharma warns of. Those are alerigic reactions all humans have in one way or another after taking crude oil internally.
That baby oil and vaseline you smear on your baby? That's what's left-over after crude oil has been refined. We used to throw it away. Now we bottle it and sell it back to you. Btw, it damages an infants liver, and dooms the child to a life empty and void without pharmaceuticals, or years of painful drug-free recovery as an adult. (from "meds" mothers take and crude oil mothers rub into a baby's liver)

@Philip you are correct on the petroleum base of phamaceuticals including most vitamins. I am mindful of the type of vitamins I purchase because I do take quite a bit of them. I doubt that our society is ready to dump their Rx drugs because some are keeping people alive eg)insulin. It's people that keep an old Rx around for a just in case scenario that need to get a grip.

@ dazzle ©, It's also very scary when those drugs aren't even being tested here in America. I just read that many are tested in oversees labs with fabricated results.

@Mary, it is very scary because one never knows how the results were based and it certainly is not to the benefit of the patient.

Thank you very much for understanding me. I doubt anyone here would give their child a MED without knowing if it was a 100 % safe or at least tested properly.

I am refering to pharmaceuticals that have addictive substances included in their recipe.
Even before our nationwide obesity epidemic broke-out, our depression epidemic was in full swing. Now, antidepressants are where the money is. 85% of prescribed antidepressants are used by 15% of US who use them. (like the kid always bogarting that joint, or stealing money from his moms purse to get more crystal meth or crack cocaine. Same things happen w/Big pharma)

Overuse of antibiotics in animals is indeed a concern for public health and should be debated. FDA approves it and has not so far regulated the use making it optional for the farms.
Now I have no expertise on the subject but perhaps more knowledgeable bloggers can shed some light on what we the consumers of animal products should worry about?
    Good afternoon all.

      Good afternoon, saywhat.
Not to mention that all of the antibiotics given to the animals to make them less disease-prone are making a whole slew of people antibiotic resistant if they consume those animals...and beef isn't the only animal receiving these antibiotics...poultry is also included in the growth-hormone-anti-biotic bonanza.

There are some who espouse getting rid of the FDA (along with the EPA) completely.
What needs to happen is that these two agencies should be watched to see that the Pharma/Oil companies are not a part of their decision-making process via lobbying!

Those aren't "Side Effects" you experience and as Big Pharma warns. Those are alergic reactions. Natural reactions humans have after injesting crude oil, and reactions that Big Pharma can sell you another drug to deal with so you can enjoy a semi-normal life.

True about Big Pharma testing facilities. 97% of testing facilities are overseas, with control groups that do not reflect an average US citizen. Fewer that 2% of big Pharma testing facilities have ever been inspected by any official US government official inspector from any US gov. agency. Including the DEA and the CDC.

I read with interest the exchange among @Philip@Obma Mama@Rascal Rabble@banasy reg the issue of current elections, Romney-Reagan, Jesus-Paul references rather late but the drift was engaging.
@banasy, I endorse your views 100% on exercising the power of the only power left to us commoners – the Vote.

It's who counts the votes that wins. 🙂 Howdy @saywhat.
If any of you watch TV, The History Channel is airing a series called "High Tech Hitler". It touches on some of what I've said here many times...our pharmaceuticals came from the same men our rocket and jet engines came from: twisted Nazis. (even before these men formed the nazi party)
German citizens, already not happy with jews in particular, had to be dumbed-down to accept the coming pre-planned horrors about to be inflicted. Like a man spun on seroquel, gives a ratz ass...but acts as if do.

I am curious, Philip, and I have wondered this for some time:
You say you don't own a TV; do you watch things like this on your computer?
You seem knowlegable about TV for not owning one; you reference many shows.
      Just wondering.
