Case of missing Iowa girls an 'abduction,' police say
The case of two missing Iowa girls is now being called an abduction after the search of a lake near where the cousins were last seen turned up nothing.
"Those girls are not in that lake," Black Hawk County Sheriff's Deputy Rick Abben told reporters Friday. "Obviously, within a week if they were lost they would have been found by now."
"Since we can't find them, they're not in the lake, we're calling it an abduction," Abben said.
Lyric Cook, 10, and her cousin Elizabeth Collins, 8, were last seen by their grandmother on July 13 when they left on a bike ride.
Their bicycles and a purse were found near Meyers Lake hours after they were reported missing.
Scent dogs following the girls' trail led searchers around the lake and stopped at the water's edge, according to Lyric's mother, Misty Cook-Morrissey.
Meanwhile, authorities have searched the home of Cook-Morrissey and Wylma Cook, who is a grandmother to both girls, with the women's consent.
The two women said they also provided investigators with a key to get into the attic.
Investigators confiscated Cook-Morrisey's computers with her consent, she said.

There are children in Tibet that walk over 10 miles to scholl w/o an escort. Try that in ANY city USA and the child, while being safer than if at an US church, has a 50/50 chance of making it to school unscathed.

oh yea now I remember. The One that says I have a right to free speech. The one that says that I have every right to give my side of a story, whether be child disappearances to the current POTUS policies.

I read the whole thing and I disagree....disrespectful or not to y'all, banasyc commented on the story and philip starts in as he always does. That's what he does. Who cares about them, anyway? I hope those girls are found! Soon!
It sounds like the girls go into a boat. Did the dogs search the other side of the lake? If they got on a boat they had to get off the boat.

I have 2 theories.. they were either abducted by a pedofile or a relative (someone who knew they were out and about playing together at that exact moment)
I agree- abductor must have known they were at the lake and knew them and they knew the abductor or abductors

This was my first time on this site and there were more negative comments from people than a high school restroom stall. Wonder why this country is falling a part. What happened to respect for one another. If people stop using the words freedom of speech and try thinking before they speak or write we wouldn't have a world of heartless people. FYI nothing is ever free and until you understand that we as Americans have a long way to go. Now for what matters the most lets pray that these little girls are found to give closer to their families. They are loved not only by their families but by a nation and we want them found.
All of this bickering amongst one another is totally useless the one fact remains is that these two beautiful little innocent girls are missing and prayers and much needed hope should be thought about instead of all of these verbal attacks. As a mother of two daughters i can only imagine what heartache and sadness that these two ladies must be suffering over their little angels . My heartfelt prayers are with you
