Police: 12 killed, 38 injured in shooting at Colo. movie theater

A heavily armed gunman killed at least 12 people and wounded 38 more during an early Friday morning screening of the new Batman movie at an Aurora, Colorado, theater, police Chief Dan Oates told reporters.

Earlier, police said 14 had been killed.

Police arrested a man believed to be the shooter in a rear parking lot of the theater, Frank Fania, a police spokesman, told CNN. The suspect was not immediately identified, though Fania said he was believed to be in his early 20s.

"He did not resist. He did not put up a fight," Fania said. Police seized a rifle and a handgun from the suspect, and another gun was found in the theater, he said.

Ya – just the USA 'Shooting of the Day' – brought to you by Glock Corp. – proudly enabling people to kill people for over 60 years now. Disclamer – it wasn't really our guns that did it but we are proud anyway.

I have one question. The same question everybody has. WERE THEY MIDDLE EASTERN.
Don't be politically correct. We need to know so that we can protect ourselves just in case
sleeper cells are coming alive across the country.

history tell us whites and Caucasians have murdered 99.99% more innocent people than Middle Easterns. Middle Easterns are victims of F-16s for the past 100 years. So, just do a bit research before accusing other communities. Racist on everything won't help. All Global Wars, occupations done by the White Christians and Jews at least for the past 400 years.

This is why you don't bring kids (and guns) to the movies. This is also why you don't go to movies in the ghetto.

In case you don't have time for the above detailed in-depth reporting, I've paraphrased this news story:

Police in Aurora, Colorado, say they've responded to an early Friday shooting at an Aurora movie theater. CNN affiliates in the area report that multiple people have been shot.

Since when is this 'breaking news' – doesn't this happen like every other day now? I think the latest CNN coverage on a big shooting was the one in Arizona and the comment with the most 'likes' was that the only reason 17 people died was because of the fact that guns are not allowed in bars in Arizona. Otherwise of course 'someone' would have been able to shoot the bad guy. So – 'Yawn' I wonder what the arguement against gun control will be now. Actually I don't even want to know – it will make me want to vomit. Thanks NRA

but you must remember that guns don't kill people, people kill people....they just use guns to do it. So therefore (in American NRA semantics), guns are as cute, safe and cuddly as a teddy bear. No matter that a 2 year old not far from my home shot himself in the head two days ago, after finding his grandfather's loaded .9mm in a bedroom. No. Guns don't kill people.

I'm curious to know if the shooter was a background checked licienced gun owner. I'll bet the easy answer is no, and if that is the case all the gun control in world would have been useless.

No... not if you reduce the amount of guns available. Cretin.

How often does this kind of thing happen in countries with proper gun regulation??

Please cease your ambulance chasing and get back to the rest of the news of the day until you have something factual items of substance to report. Stop guessing, speculating, and trotting out witnesses who don't say anything. This is the acme of trash, tabloid journalism! Just stop running your mouths and not saying anything of substance!!!!!! You should be ashamed of yourselves.
