Ethnic clashes in India kill dozens, displace thousands

Ethnic clashes in India's northeastern Assam province have left 32 dead as of Wednesday and sent an estimated 150,000 fleeing their homes to escape the violence, police said.

Long-standing tensions between the predominant Bodo tribes people and minority migrant Muslim settlers erupted into bloodshed nearly a week ago and has largely gripped the province's Kokrajhar district, which borders on neighboring Bhutan to India's north, said Assam police chief J.N. Chaudhury.

What sparked the mayhem is not yet known and under investigation, he said. But it has resulted in incidences of attacks and counter attacks between the two groups, CNN sister network CNN-IBN has reported.

Five of those killed died when police fired on mobs engaging in rioting and arson, according to Chaudhury, who said that the district had witnessed similar fighting in the 1990s and the early 2000s.

"For now, our priority is to stop the violence and arson. It may take some days to rebuild trust," he said.

  1. Reality

Bodo terrorists started the violence by killing Muslims first, Its Bodo who want to ethnic cleanse the Muslim population from that area, Those Muslims are there since last 70 years, long before India's independence they were present there.

If Israeli from Europe are not illegals than Muslims are also not illegals any where in world.

Assam, India has been taken over by the army. India is a mess. Economy has collapsed, food shortages, terrorism on the rise. Hindus are now taking their frustration out on muslims.

Indian govt has failed to protect minorities, as these kind of minorities genocide happens after every few years, if we look at India history, since its independence in every decade we found at least one massacre of Muslims, Sikhs or Christians, and never Indian govt trial the majority groups, some time they kill minorities by calling them terrorists, some time over sacred cow, (in Hinduism cow is sacred) but its strange that cow is sacred but human is not, killings and clashes are in nature of India, they fight with China, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, they have clashes with every neighbor, and in media, twitter FB etc they blame neighbors for clashes and terrorism inside India, they never take the responsibility of their own failure, for Mumbai blasts they blame Pakistan, for Gujarat riots they blame Muslims, for Assam riots they blame Bangladesh, for Uttar pardesh issue they blame China, but never says that whoever is behind it, after their own countryman kill the minorities, In history of India never any minority killed more than 200 Hindus in single clash, but in every clash Hindus killed more than 4000 minorities and every time Indian govt save that majority Hindus as they were attacking them in revenge, but on ground fact is that India want to keep pressure on minorities so that they should live in fear and should not demand separation from India after economic isolation, they killed 5000 Muslims in assam in just 6 hours, no one was punished, than they killed more than 15000 Sikhs in 1984 in three days, than burn alive 3000 Muslims in Gujarat, killed more than 100000 Muslims in 10 yrs in Kashmir. now killings Muslims in Assam as calling them foreigners, but as a matter of fact they are living in the area since last 70 yrs (even before the formation of India) after we go behind any massacre in India we want they just clean up the minority in fear of their demand of separation from India,

I wonder whether this question merits any answer! The question should have been "to whom India is good?"

Anyway just too keep the author happy, my answer is: 'India is bad for women because it's is bad for everybody". It's bad not only for women but all for those feeble, elderly, poor, powerless, voiceless and small nations under its writ and surroundings.

But always humble and ready to serve its masters.

Great comments. People forget that there is only 100 years of human lifespan. Even that is shortened by disease and injury. Let us revel in hatred!
