Nine athletes banned for doping offenses

A total of nine athletes, including Olympic bronze medalist Nataliya Tobias, have tested positive for "sophisticated doping" offenses, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has confirmed.

Six of those athletes were caught using a new "biological passport" method, which builds up a profile of each individual over a prolonged period of time.

The remaining three, including Tobias who came third in the women's 1500 meters in Beijing four years ago, were suspended after further analysis of samples they gave at the World Championships in Daegu last year.

"Today's announcements underline the IAAF's continued and unwavering campaign against doping in athletics," IAAF President Lamine Diack said in a statement on their official website.

"They demonstrate the IAAF's commitment to use advanced methods to detect doping and to enforce increased sanctions when justified.

"We will not stint in our resolve to do everything in our power to eradicate cheating."

    Look hard enough and you'll find they are all doping. You can't make it to the Olympics without.

    I can see a time where all of this will be relaxed. The drug companies will then sponsor athletes and rake in billions for performance enhancing drugs. Better life through chemistry, and greed.

    not suprising... why not have olympics in north korea in four years...they had them in commie china...silly games while human beings sit in labor camps for tryin to be free...now the rotten BBC does not even report Jerusalem as capital of Israel...but cowardly kisses the rear ends of Arabs to maintain BP oil contracts... Its bad enough the olympic comittee wont have a moment of silence not just for Israeli athletes murdred in 72 but for all victims of terrorist attacks especially the Sudanese where almost 3 million womed and children have been murdered by arabs...and the goofy corrupt U.N. ignores such only to pick on Israel the only country which has saved significant numbers of Christian Sudanese...not to mention Ethiopian and Yemenite Jews also facing same fate out of Israel...I say BOYCOTT OLYMPICS for what I mentioned above including doping. Israel should never play in these games...only in Canada or America where all people are treated good. jim ainoris
