Document: Suspect in theater shooting was psychiatrist's patient

Colorado shooting suspect James Holmes was a patient of a University of Colorado psychiatrist before last week's attack at a movie theater that killed 12 people and wounded scores, according to a court document filed Friday by his lawyers.

The disclosure was in a request by Holmes (pictured) for authorities to immediately hand over a package he sent to Dr. Lynne Fenton at the university's Anschutz Medical Campus.

According to Holmes' request, the package seized by authorities under a July 23 search warrant was a protected communication.

"The materials contained in that package include communications from Mr. Holmes to Dr. Fenton that Mr. Holmes asserts are privileged," the document said. "Mr. Holmes was a psychiatric patient of Dr. Fenton, and his communications with her are protected."

@banasy, yes I'm sure he does. He probably manipulated his psychiatrist and played her like a fiddle. I have zero empathy for him.

The name of the program was 'Colorado shooter and medications'.
One big violent storm does not equal a million smaller ones, though. Goto ssristories.com and read of those who chose hammer or knife, scissors or even their own teeth vs. classmates and parents. And if you are into crashing strangers funerals electronically, on the website is a scrolling list of the names of ssri attack victims. Load-up on RIPs befor ya go. 🙂

Dr. Tracy had also mention many patients on prozac or zanic, say "they just don't know how to put the breaks on". The drugs are in control of their mind, not them.

And Dr. Dolittle mentioned that he talks to animals. You'll pardon me if I don't take the word of some defense lawyer's paid witness.

@dazzle. I agree with your posts.

However, if he wants to play the Insanity game, he should get electroshock therapy and made to suffer daily until he dies a slow agnonizing death.

@job opening, I think it is too early in the game to pass judgement on his psychiatrist. We don't know how many times he went to see her nor what he was diagnosed with and what the prognosis is. If he was being treated by CBT, that would require multiple visits. Eg) If this diagnosis was sociopath or psychosis, the psychiatrist would have to perfom multiple tests such as a CAT Scan, blood work up etc...Once a diagnosis is determined then treatment modalities begin. My feeling is with a mind like Holmes he can twist and turn what he says with his doctor and he probably lied many times. Again regardless of what his purported diagnosis is, he should be put to death immediately.

I think the vast majority of us KNEW that the old "INSANITY" plea was coming. BUT, I do not care!! This "thing" needs to be put out of its misery! Now we are going to hear about this for a long time, while "it" is probed, examined, evaluated, and in the end MAYBE be put in a nut house so WE can pay the bill. This "copycat" wannabe. Well right now we will have to wait and see what he was up to. Forget the number of weapons he had, but again, WHY! For me there is a BIG difference in owning a couple of weapons, and having enough to start your own war!
