Police chief: Temple shooting being treated as "a domestic terrorist-type incident"

[Update 5:16 p.m.] Oak Creek, Wisconsin, police Chief John Edwards said authorities are treating Sunday's shooting at a Sikh temple in that community as a "domestic terrorist-type incident," adding that the FBI will head the investigation. There was a service going on at the time of the shooting. Edwards was not willing to divulge any information about the shooter or the victims. No one is still inside the temple, he said.

[Update 4:52 p.m.] President Barack Obama said Sunday in a statement that "at this time, the people of Oak Creek must know that the American people have them in our thoughts and prayers" and vowed to "provide whatever support is necessary." He added, "As we mourn this loss which took place at a house of worship, we are reminded how much our country has been enriched by Sikhs, who are a part of our broader American family."

[Updates 2:45 p.m.] Greenfield police Chief Brad Wentlandt says four people were found dead inside the temple, three dead outside; one of those outside was the gunman.

[Updates 2:27 p.m.] The suspect shot by an officer was killed, authorities said.

[Update 1:57 p.m.] One officer was shot multiple times, and one suspect was also shot, Greenfield police Chief Brad Wentlandt said. The officer is expected to survive. Wentlandt said the suspect was "put down."

[Update 1:42 p.m.] People are believed to be trapped inside the temple, the area's city councilman said. "As far as I know, it is still an active situation," Alderman Dan Jakubczyk told CNN.

[12:39 p.m.] Authorities responded to an incident at a Sikh temple in Milwaukee County on Sunday, where at least one body was seen lying in the parking lot. CNN affiliate WTMJ is reporting that multiple people may have been shot outside the temple.

WTMJ reports that the gunman may be on the loose. Aerial pictures show multiple bodies in the parking lot.

The shooting happened at about 10:40 a.m. local time, according to WTMJ.

Sikhism rose up 500 years ago in India as a monotheistic religion that rejected the caste system and scriptures of Hinduism.

I grew up in this neighborhood. It is unbelievable, all the violence lately. We need to reevaluate gun laws to protect our children.

After 9/11 even the US government had to print posters explaining how Sikhs are not Muslims. Many people see turban and think oh that must be a Muslim. They don't know what a Sikh is.

Not a huge fan of CNN, mainly due to their propaganda for Feds, but cannot be critical of their immediate posting of events in states, such as this one, which if readers here were watching tube or listening radio would of been comparable.
CNN is huge org worldwide but they cannot be everywhere and anywhere and depend a lot on immediate local sources for info.
As to coverage of this killing, and its reasons, what makes US citizens think they are somehow special and violence here more important an events in rest of world
In india these kinds of events happen on an almost weekly event, and are almost all religion inspired.
Sometimes the total dead and wounded are more on numbers of battlefield
    conditions.
That CNn can even present the happenings as promptly ad they do is appreciated
That is surprising as they have to spend a very large part of their resources promoying the causes of the empire, and blowing smoke and spinning the smoke.

James, it doesn't really say anything like that. If I remember correctly, and I may not as it's been a long time, 1 example is "thou shalt not suffer a fool to live"
Tells me we should be killing the stupid.

In some Haryana villages in India, the young girls are routinely threatened, abused and killed all under Khap (tribe/clan) verdicts. It is acceptable for the families to feed pesticide pills to the teenage girls and then dispose off their bodies by burning them without any police records.

How on earth is your post anywhere related to the topic. Stop spreading misconceptions and false beliefs. This is not about India. People have so much misconceptions about India. Stop believing what media tells you to believe. Go to India(not just to slums) and see how liberal people are there.
