Syria's president welcomed a top official Tuesday from Iran, a friend and ally of the much reviled and increasingly isolated government in Damascus.
Saeed Jalili, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, met with President Bashar al-Assad to discuss resolving the 17-month-long civil war and rescuing several Iranians who were kidnapped over the weekend.
State TV showed footage of Jalili and al-Assad in the first video of the president that has surfaced since last month.
Jalili called on Syrians to sit down and forge a solution to the crisis, which morphed into a nationwide uprising and civil war after government forces cracked down on peaceful protesters in March 2011.

One or two paragraphs posted at once triumph over those same words spread-out over 10 microblogs. None can argue this without looking silly.
What is silly is that you are arguing how other people blog, going so far as to use pathetic name usage such age "ankle-biters" and "microbloggers" when you do the exact same thing yourself. You brought the entire subject up, so who is the silly one? Please quit embarassing yourself!
I'll have to pass on you gracious offer.
What comedian once said, "eating MacDonald's food doesn't make you feel full, it just makes you feel different"?
Milton Berle?, Boris Karloff?
5 of the 6 Brady kids?
Abbot or Costello?
Boris Karloff.
Not *quite* a comedian, there...
It was just a joke.
Mr. Dalloway:
It made me laugh...and I thank you for mentioning an actor that I haven't thought of in many years!
No secret that Syria has traditionally been allied with Iran and Russia. The very reason that the unrest was initiated 17 months ago by powers arrayed on the other side . Russia with China on board still stands with the regime. S.Arabia, Israel and by proxy US with Turkey on board are the opponents. Iran's clout stands diminished with sanctions and own woes.
So this visit is hardly news.
Good morning all.

You're back!
How was your trip to the Rockies?
And I don't know; what comedian said that?
The mountains were good, but a bit cooler than usual for this time of year. The drought seems to be lessening up there. Didn't see much wildlife this year. There was a dead bighorn on the highway just north of Calgary though. Too bad.
@saywhat. That's right, it isn't news. It is mind conditioning, slowly...inch by inch and day-by-day massageing America's mind to hate on Iranians.
And this mind-conditioning isn't always a bad thing. For example, just recently did American media begin reporting domestic violence as terrorism. Look for this more and more as America's mind becomes conditioned to accept the CIA dealing with domestic violence.
Domestic violence is typically not mass murder. Do not equate the two. Mass murder upon an unsuspecting public is doemestic terrorism. Domestic violence is what the police call fighting within one's home, or domain. I thought you needed to know the difference.
...recall fmr. President Bush speaking of 9/11, and reports including references to Iraqi WMDs. Slowly over the course of a year and a half, America's mind was conditioned into linking Iraqis with 9/11.
Of course by now we all know that UN weapons inspectors were telling US the truth...that Iraqis had ZERO WMDs. But by now it's too late. By the time Americans pulled their heads out of their asses, 250,000 Iraqi citizens lay dead, many of them christians.
I recall somebody posting about this very same thing a year ago. Do you remember who wrote that? I do. Hint: it wasn't Philip, and he resoundingly shot her down for saying that. Why? I guess because he didn't say it first.
Well, if it all has to be about picking sides – Syria, Russia, China, Iran on one, US, Israel, SA, Turkey on the other – I'm comfortable on my side. But it's not quite that simple.
I can't find which comedian said that. Remember the urban myth about how MacDonald's used ground earthworm instead of beef? It was finally dispelled when they released data to show that earthworm is actually more expensive than beef, so it wouldn't make any sense for them to do that.
There was also a romor going around that Hubba Bubba bubblegum had spider eggs in it, and White Castle sliders were made of Kangaroo meat.
Gotta love those myths.
Domestic violence? Ya mean when I slaps my wife Gerda fer buyin the wrong beer?
Gerda?
And one should never "slaps yer wife."
@Bombo-Morgan Spurlock- Super Size me.
One of the best docs I have ever seen, Mama.
@banasy he gained 241/2 lbs. in 1 month. Glad I do not eat Micky D's. In high school I could eat 2 big macs at 1 sitting.lol
Mama, do you remember how pasty and ill he looked at the end?
Yes I do, he said he felt bad. It really isn't *food* is it? It is pink sludge? Or pink slip? What do they call the non-meat stuff?
Mama:
Offal?
Processed meat product?
I call it gross.
Looks like a happy blogging experience today. I just wish they would settle this thing in Syria. Hello!!
Maybe just maybe someone in Assad's inner circle will do the world a great service and whack this guy.
USA Tomorrow, Aug 7 2014.
Over 300 men suspected of terrorizing their wives and kids were rounded-up yesterday by the CIA, and taken to DHS security prison for waterboarding.
In other news, a dozen incorporated RCC Archdiocese were denied bancruptcy protection from creditors awarded cash settlements of malpractice lawsuits, as some 35 priests and bishops were arrested for being suspected terrorists.
What are the lottery numbers?
