Temple shooter's ex-girlfriend arrested

As community members sought emotional healing in the wake of the shooting spree at a religious service in Wisconsin, authorities announced they arrested Misty Cook, the ex-girlfriend of shooting suspect Wade Michael Page, on a weapons charge.

Cook faces a charge of felon in possession of a firearm, said South Milwaukee Police Lt. Jason Walker.

The arrest was part of a joint investigation between the FBI and the South Milwaukee Police Department, Walker said. But Walker released little more details about the arrest and if Cook had any connection to Sunday's shootings at a Sikh temple that left six victims dead.

Page, an Army veteran who neighbors say played in a far-right punk band, was the lone gunman in the rampage at the temple, police said. Page was shot to death by police responding to the attack in the Milwaukee suburb of Oak Creek.

For a third consecutive night, mourners and supporters held a vigil Tuesday to remember the six victims, pray for the wounded and grapple with grief and shock.

People lit candles in an Oak Creek park and stood together in solidarity.

Police said Tuesday they had not identified a motive or found any telltale writings or a note left by the gunman.

Is this story in anyway related to the shootings at the temple or just a routine questioning of all his known associates, one of which had an unlicensed gun?

My question os : why can't a white christian child wear a rosary around his neck to scool with religion being the reason if a sikh child can wear a dagger around his neck and a towel on his head using religion as an excuse? Hypocracy on full display, Americans don't wear towels on their heads. If my child has to wear a uniform and look like an "American" child so should a sikh child.

Hamsta, I grew up in a very strict Catholic household and it was considered a "sin" to wear rosary beads around the neck. They are not to be worn at jewelry.

It appears you are more concerned about the appearance of others than your own child. Ask your local school board about youngster's dress requirements, the wearing of jewelry etc...while at school. Ask the elders in the Amish and Mennonite community why they dress the way they do. Inquire of certain Jewish sects the reasons behind their dress code. Ask the local Rabbi why Jewish men and boys wear
a yarmulke etc. Sikhs are no different, they have customs too.

You sound very intolerant of religions you are unfamiliar with, and since you know nothing about religious customs here in the US, such as the Rosary as jewelry, you should do a little research before comparing apples to oranges.

Hamsta- Maybe it's because christians only use the bible when it suits them. Sikhs, live what they believe. By the way, you can ware anything you wish around your neck, tuck it in your shirt.

I'm not suprised, this turned up with the girlfriend. They will not stop just at the shooter level canvassing a homicide investigation.

Perhaps she knew of the plot, and can shed some light as to the motive, other than the old stand-by motive of hate and intolerance...

Of course the feds are involved, it is a hate crime not a hated crime, and as someone mentioned a filler piece, a tidbit of info to keep the haters of skin heads hating.
A weapons charge is one heck of a broad category and at any time in US there are probably hundreds of thouands breaking a gun rule or regulation, let alone weapons regulations.
The use of possible "weapons" related prosecutions or arrest for are also a means of intimidation or coercing unooperatives witnesses or informant extortion.
the term weapon is often an interpretive measure by police, a baseball bat or knife are weapons.
Many so called weapons violations are no more than a misdemeanor.
Yet when a child can be arrested and sent with parents to expensive counciling sessions just for pointing a finger or drawing a weapon, today the mind itself is a weapon.

There's no telling just what card she is going to play. I'm sure now that she realizes her boyfriend had to be whacked, that just doesn't leave too many options for her other than to come clean.

Both my wife and I both have had previous training with both the homicide squad and the metro gang crimes unit, and it's pretty hard to tell the outcome, this early in the game.

    @jeff frank of ohio, NOYFB.
That the police arrested the killers girl friend on a weapons charge tells next to nothing about her and if any connections at all with the crime.
Yet the very words "weapons charge" evokes images of criminality and that in todays political and social climate does not lead to rational debate.
Much the same as why you chose a subnik for yourself. an image enhancer.
