Wisconsin temple shooter killed himself, FBI says

Wade Michael Page, who police say fatally shot six people in a Sikh temple in Wisconsin on Sunday, died that day from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head after he was shot in the stomach by a responding officer, Teresa Carlson, the special agent in charge for the FBI in Milwaukee, said Wednesday.

Police previously said that he was shot to death by an officer responding to the attack in Oak Creek.

Page, a 40-year-old Army veteran who neighbors say played in a so-called hate-rock band, was the lone gunman in the rampage at the temple, police said.

Thomas, you don't see the idiocy and hate of your blanket statement? Really, you want all gun owners to kill themselves?!

I understand but abhor hatred, but what I do not understand is that so many people are now demanding justice in this case. He killed himself. He is dead. What more do you want?

Who else is there to punish? Do you really think we can prevent each and every idiot from doing something horrible? If I drive recklessly and kill someone is it the fault of the police for not stopping me in the first place?

The problem is that having "symptoms" does not mean that someone is going to do something very bad ( I have all the classic "symptoms" and I don't go around killing anyone ). And not having "symptoms" does not mean that someone will not do something bad.

Shall we put all racists and haters in prison? Shall we give up all our freedoms just so that none of us can do anything bad?

No, but we could only supply guns to people who actually need them. All the latest massacres have been with legally obtained guns.

I still think ALL Drs. mental or physical should have to fill e notice with the F.B.I. that a person is being treated for depression, or other mental problems. They are worried about protecting their client, but what about everyone else? This would cause the person not to get a gun permit (Right all we have to go on is their word).

The highly profitable fantasy put out by the gun lobby and their NRA acolytes, is that guns act as defensive weapons in the responsible hands. Some deterrent value maybe, if you are not outnumbered, but defense at being shot at first – no way.

If that were the case, then no soldiers would ever die of gunshot wounds in war. And those wild west movie gunfights would have never caused any casualties.

Guns don't kill people. People with guns kill people – in much larger numbers, much faster and often from a distance, none of which they could do with any other type of weapons, except bombs. But strangely, having bombs is illegal in the USA and the NRA doesn't seem to mind that.

    so many ignorant comments.
-all gun owners should kill themselves? surely we would lose a lot of good people.
-all people of color should leave?
we are all descended from immigrants.
-only american white people commit mass murder?
dc sniper, edie ahmim, paul pot, sadam hussain, et al.
    -only the attackers hate?
comments like 'may he rot in hell' come from christian love and compassion? i think not.
-are there any smart collge educated neo-nazis?
hell yes there is. that ideaology, like all others. crosses all socio-economic stratas.

may god have mercy on everyone involved and may the living victims find comfort and solace in their families, friends and community.

"a 40-year-old Army veteran" gives a misleading impression. A veteran is anyone who served on active duty in the armed forces during a war, in a campaign or expedition... Most people don't know those and assume he had a military career. I'm a classified veteran (USAF – during vietnam war) even though I only served stateside. I'm sure other veterans don't appreciate the degrading of the military.

I think we should start looking at opening up suicide centers for nutjobs. Give them the tools and equipment to make their Propaganda video, some money to help friends/family. Stroke their egos.. "What original music!" and put the video on while you dope them to death. Make them feel important that day, and give them a pedestal to espouse their hatred, then let them leave this world.

"Still no motive." While I can understand that it could turn out to be the case that he actually had a rational motive (e.g., had some specific grievance with someone connected with that temple), it's clear enough that this murderous nazi didn't have or require any motive more rational than "that place is full of ragheads and they all die today." It seems to be difficult for people to process this crime without some better explanation than that. But there won't be a better explanation. This guy was really that angry, really that dumb, and really that murderous.

This is not the act of a suicidal person...

It's the act of a murderous Neo-Nazi who
didn't want to get caught and be held
    accountable for his actions.
