Viewers outraged after NBC cuts away from closing ceremonies

NBC was pummeled by viewers who took to social media after the network cut away early from the closing ceremonies of the London Games on Sunday to air a new television show, drawing outrage from those who tuned in for the highly anticipated musical spectacle.

The Twitter-sphere exploded - with "#NBCfail" and "#closingceremonies" trending worldwide - after NBC cut out performances by Ray Davies, Kate Bush, the Who and the Muse in favor of a commercial-free airing of "Animal Practice."

"I still don't understand, it's a tape delay, so can't you do the math in advance? Why do you need to cut off the closing ceremony? #nbcfail," wrote Raj Sarkar on Twitter.

Actor Nate Barlow posted to his Twitter account: "Why #nbcfail ranks last: no better way to turn people off a new show than to preempt @thewho & other rock legends for it."

The network was under fire for much of the 16 days of the Games by viewers who took to Twitter and Facebook to complain about its tape-delayed coverage of big ticket events, which NBC has said was necessary to maximize its prime-time audience.

Again, NBC does a rank and misguided job covering the Olympics. Seacrest and that NBC woman who is polident challenged telling us about the history of longiitude or an hour of the grand dame of NBC news showcasing the German bombing of England. Hello, it's a sporting event! Thanks for ruining this world class sporting event.

Eric Holder will be arrested for giving assault rifles to drug cartels. Obama's gangsters are being prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

At least Freddie Mercury was able to sing his Day-O vocal exercise with no music and no auto tune. And 65 year old Brian May is still amazing on guitar. To the younger generation this is how its done.

I hated the lack of coverage. Sailing, windsurfing, shooting, pentathlon, and other events weren't even aired, talked about, or in the list of games. NBC just showed the sponsored athletes and focused on every detail of their boring lives. Basketball should be non professional players and rhythmic gymnastics is like a toddlers and tiaras holding objects. Pretty pathetic exercise. I tuned out long before the closing ceremony.

Simple solution...... STOP watching NBC. Stop watching television. Grow up already. TV is for dumbed down masses. It's a means of distraction, propaganda, and indoctrination. ALL OF IT. Turn the stupid box off, and get a life, instead of letting corrupt mass media basically dictate your lives. When will you learn?

Couldn't agree with you more Joseph. I ditched cable long ago now only have an HD converter box, the plus I get 3 Public TV stations that don't insult my intelligence on the rare occasion when I want to watch TV.

The Who performance was on after the Animal Practice show and local news – I stayed up to watch it.

  8. NBC Sucks

NBC puts wigs on two old men, dressed in ten year old suits with non matching ties and shirts to cover a taped global event saturated with young people more up to date on instant news and social media than any NBC exec ever will be. You suck NBC and I'm glad to see you will most definitely fall into the trash pile along with your fellow old school "News" outlets.

TV is a waste of time. Turn it off. Wake up. It's there to keep the masses sedated, which it does very well. Quit wasting your life. Get outside and go for a jog. Read a book. Write a story. Design and build something. Visit a friend. Start a band.

John, I watched a Sailing event online, and it was fantastic entertianment, even in low res. I would have enjoyed seeing that in high def. Just goes to show, we only got the most "popular" events.
