Winning ticket for $337 million Powerball bought in Michigan

Somebody in Michigan may be very happy soon.

Lottery officials say a winning ticket for the estimated $337 million Powerball jackpot was purchased in Michigan. Also there were eight tickets that won the $1 million Match 5 prize. Two of those tickets were bought in Indiana, the others were purchased in Kansas, Kentucky, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Virginia, lottery officials said.

The winning numbers were 6,27,46,51,56 and 21.

Why you keep playing the lottery

The prize for the national lottery, which is held in 42 states, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia, swelled Saturday after no one hit all six numbers.

The game's largest prize to date was $365 million, which was awarded in 2006 to a group of eight co-workers at a Nebraska meat-packing plant.

In 2005, a group of four in Oregon won a $340 million jackpot, considered the second largest.

The lottery is legalized extortion. It's long been known that State lotteries advertise, and target their advertising at low income individuals crowded in inner cities.
Ads proclaim "So, would you like to be super wealthy?", obviously not targeting those already wealthy. Inner cities are crowded with welfare recipients, btw.
How many of our welfare, food stamp, and disabilty dollars have been gambled away? Billions, no doubt.

It took you this long to realize that the lottery is the poor man's gambling?
Why would the wealthy need to waste their money on the lottery when they can just travel to Vegas or off-shore and play a real gambling game...Russian Roullette! 😉

I see children playing where adults gather to discuss the news.
There are other websites better suited for childish remarks (aka 'microblogs') and those who post them.
You kids run-along now, and let US adults have our space. ty

I see nothing wrong with playing a buck or two.
Knowing when to stop is the key; too many people do not know when to STOP.
    Just a buck or two.
    Yeesh.
